Take your shave to the next level (especially for men of color/ people prone to razor bumps)...
Decided to make the jump to double-edged (DE) shaving about two months ago. There were a lot of recommendations for beginning razors, but I wanted something with a lot of weight, a little forgiving and a nice long handle. The Parker 82R fit the bill. It's gorgeous to look at, a very classic design and vibe to it. The grooves add a bit of grip to the razor, so if you're worried about it slipping out your hands or anything, that's not a serious concern here. The butterfly/twist-to-open (TTO) works well and hasn't gotten stuck.I like the Shark blades that come with it. I don't know how to gauge aggressiveness or anything of that sort. But I did buy some Feather blades and find myself with nicks far more often than when I use the Shark blades. The shave I get from this (along with Proraso or Musgo Real for my cream) is beyond real. Very smooth, I can usually stretch another day or two past my previous shave routine. But the biggest thing is that I am seriously prone to razor bumps and ingrown hairs. I've had zero irritation and no ingrown hairs since switching to DE shaving. You ever look at pictures from the 1920s and 1930s and you never see men with ingrown hairs or razor bumps. That's because they shaved with a DE razor. This razor, a brush and tube of shaving cream should run you about $60. But it's worth it for a shave that will revolutionize your grooming and hygiene.

Parker 82R Razor is awesome
UPDATE 1/27/2014:I have owned this razor for almost 3 years now. This razor has held up exceptionally well to the daily use it gets. The finish on the metal is still as if it were new out of the box. But the greatest advantage is that this razor has saved me literally hundreds of dollars on the cost of shaving, I purchased a box of 100 razor blades for less than $10 from Amazon and still have a good deal of blades. Very much worth the investment.Plus my 5 year old son thinks that this is the coolest razor since dad also shaves with shaving soap and a shaving brush.*****************************************************************************I received my Parker 82R razor yesterday and the best word to describe this razor is Awesome. The razor has a very nice weight to it which means that the razor does the shaving very quickly without the need to really pull and tug on your face. The Twist to Open feature makes the blade insertion process a snap. The Shark blades that ship with the razor are sharp and high quality, however I will be trying out other blades in the near future. I bought this razor for the simple fact that I have grown tired of the continued cost of the Gilette Fusion blades.

Nice!
After having received a gift card for Christmas, and having to wanted to try a safety razor, I got this a few weeks ago and am very pleased. As someone that has been using a Mach 3 for maybe the last 10 years part of my reason to try one was to avoid the cost of replacement cartridges. It did take a little getting used to, the size, particularly the top, controlling the angle, and amount of pressure to apply. Initially I didn't think it was doing anything, until I saw the whiskers in the sink. However, I didn't think the shave was a close as I was used to. But, after having used it for awhile and feeling more comfortable being a bit more aggressive with it, I have found that it's much better at getting at certain areas of my face, such as under my nose and around the corners of my mouth, and the shave is excellent. Overall, I like it.

Excellent value for first-time DE shavers.
This is a great starter razor. I have been using this for about 4 weeks now. I've got the technique down at this point and my face has never been smoother. No comparison to a multi-blade, mass-market cartridge razor shave. This heavyweight razor looks great, and feels great in the hand. There was a tiny flaw in the plating on the head, but it's purely cosmetic. you have to look closely to see it. Changing blades could not be any easier. I have no no problems with the TTO movement, and it locks down tight. The Shark blades are decent. I recommend changing them on the fifth or sixth day.If you have hard water, like I do, I also recommend cleaning this razor for top performance about once a month. I used 50/50 CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover)/hot water. Soak for 2-3 minutes. Rinse well with hot water. Shiny new again. Vinegar soak may work too, but haven't tried it yet. Happy shaving!

A Great Safety Razor
I ordered this Razor from Super Safety Razors here on Amazon. Their service was awesome and I recommend them to anyone looking tk buy a Parker 82r or any razor really. The Parker 82r is a twist to open razor that is reminiscent of the Gilette 50's razors. It is more aggressive because of the weight than some of Gilette's vintage razors but is still mild enough to not give irritation. The razor comes packaged in a nice red and white box with "Parker Safety Razor since 1973" printed on it, with some Shark Super Chrome blades which are my go to razor bladesI recommend this razor 100% to anyone.
