Excellent value, fun to build, great on display!
This was my first time building a Mega Construx product. I'm a big kid (30 lol) and I've always loved Legos and Pokemon. I've also always been a 'lego snob', meaning if it's not actual Lego brand then it's probably not good. I've been looking at these for a while and someone recently got me an Amazon gift card, so I decided to pull the trigger. For under $20 you can't go wrong! Honestly a similarly sized Lego is probably $40. There were no quality control issues (no missing/warped pieces, color issues, etc.). The directions were clear with great illustrations and the build was so much fun! It took me about 2.25 hours (having never built a Mega Construx set and not having built any lego/construction bricks type model in few years). I now have it on my desk at work and it looks awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes Pokemon and Lego type sets. I've definitely found a new addiction and will buying more! I would say 8 years old is about the cut off for being able to build on their own, however this would be a fun project for an adult to do with a younger child (probably 6 years old at the youngest).

Very Satisfying Build for Pokemon Fans of All Ages
This was a very satisfying build for me because it's big, took some time, and actually looks like Gyarados (woo!). It's also an excellent way to relax after work. I put it together while playing Netflix in the background. As an adult, I managed just fine with the instructions, but it may be too challenging for young kids to do by themselves. It helps to look at a future step if you're unsure where two pieces connect. The bags are not numbered and the pieces are mixed among bags anyway, so I recommend spilling them all out and organizing them on a table before starting. I had no issues with pieces missing or anything like that. I checked the seller out (even if fulfilled by Amazon Prime) before purchasing, so that may have helped. Anyway, I love this Gyarados and highly recommend for other Pokemon fans of all ages.

Easy to build
Gyarados for 8+ my grandson is only 6 and he had a great time building this. For him this was very easy to build. It took him a while to build because he only put it together when he was visiting my house. The only CON I found on this is that after you build it you can’t play with it because the pieces are very small and it comes a part very easy. He entertained himself building this sometimes for more than 1 hour.

Awesome build, but process could use work
How many magikarp did I have to grind to get this thing? Not many actually. I really like how Megablocks has reasonable licensing fees built in, unlike Lego, resulting in highly affordable good quality big franchise toys. Biggest pet peeve: Parts are scattered across multiple bags, meaning that you have to pull from two or more bags to complete sections. Highly suggest you take plastic containers and open similar color bags into each to stay organized. Minor stuff: The tail itself is not on a ball-mount joint limiting the range of motion. Not sure how long the whiskers are going to last as they’re made of pliable plastic. The mouth also doesn’t close. That all said this model is awesome with an enormous amount of range of movement and poses. It’s also quite large with the correct color scheme with the facial motion screaming “be afraid” that fits Gyarados. It’s also nice how it comes with a stand, given that as a water Pokémon modeled on a serpentine dragon, it doesn’t have feet. There’s also a buildable ball that’s invariably going to get lost. Build time about is an hour if you’re efficient. Maybe two hours for kids. Instructions are straightforward. I do wonder how many of these are going to millennials.

Amazing and adorable.
Good size, looks much better in person than in pictures. It has a deceivingly large number of pieces, takes a good while to put together and it can be mildly complex, which is satisfying, but maybe difficult for a kid. Base is cute too. Wish the Ultra Ball had a way to attach, it just sits on top and it's very easy to lose. Only complaint.

Not for young children
This was a birthday gift for my 11 year old grandson. He said it was pretty big when done. That it was cool. Thats really all I can say about it as it was a gift.

A must have for your Pokemon collection!
Mega Construx, Pokémon, and Gyarados! Another iconic Pokémon that was turned into building blocks by Mega Construx. There is 352 pieces which took me about an 2 or so to complete. (Time varies) Pros: - Gyarados stretches 9 inches long! -"Fully articulated body for ultimate possibility" (Fins, body, tail, etc.) -"Water environment that doubles as display stand" - You also get an Ultra Ball - One of the best looking so far - Price is amazing when bought through Amazon - Great collection piece Cons: - Could have included extra stuff - Original price is high (Doesnt matter on Amazon) - Dive Ball or Lure Ball would have been better! As you can see there are no bad cons to this product so some opnions of mine that would have made it a bit better. In conclusion, this is a must buy if you love Pokemon and even just Mega Construx for the building concept.

Nice set for my 6-year-old
Bought this for my 6-year-old that loves using LEGO’s. He asked for this specific one because I guess he saw someone use it in a YouTube video. He was able to build all by himself except for one of the steps that was a little bit tricky but took only a few minutes to figure out. Overall good set. Came in a nice box.

Having recently put together a Pikachu from this line with a faulty head, I was a little nervous going into Gyarados, however, my fears were unfounded. I love him so much and now that he's built Gary G Gyarados has pride of place on my display shelves. Not only is it a nerdy reminder of my childhood, but building it myself makes the figure even cooler. I bought this for my husband's christmas and we built it together. It's a lot easier than the Jumbo Pikachu and can easily be put together over around 3-4 hours and the course of two short sessions (keep in mind this is with two people working leisurely together, which might slow the process down). As always, the instructions are doable, but could be a bit confusing at points where they don't show things well, but overall most people should be able to manage. The more experience you have with these, the easier you'll find it. The only thing that really annoyed me is that the pokeball is just designed to 'rest' on the kit. It's very wobbly and will fall off and get lost. I attached it with a glob of 'white-tac' and it looks like it's part of the design. I recommend you do the same. Gyarados looks awesome and though he has a tendency to overbalance in certain positions (more stretched out), you can rotate all the pieces to create your own cool pose. He's really a great looking figure that's a lot of fun to build!
