Expensive, but worth it. Native ISO playback is excellent. Media scraper is mostly very accurate. Solid hardware.

I need it just for my huge movie's collection in all kind of formats, mkv, mp4, avi, included blu-ray iso format and folder format. I like have a PC with a beautiful interface and silence, easy to use. All connected wired cable.

I have been using this item for about 3 months, got it when my Dune HD Pro Vision 4K Solo got fried from a power surge, I thought it would be a nice upgrade, but this unit cannot do many things that the 4K Solo could. anyone buying this as a first Dune should be happy, but as a upgrade you will know that Dune HD can do so much better. I believe most of the problems with this unit will be fixed one day with a firmware update, but until them I will not be happy with this model. I will update if they fix some of the problems. which are really a lot of small fixes but to many to ignore. I may just try to find another Dune 4k and replace this one as it is not quite the same quality.

I love this and for the price it is good. If your looking for more bells get the big flagship. worth every penny. I swear by this wonderful company.

I have 4 Nvidia shields This is a better machine but the cost is way to high.

Does not receive local channels like KTLA and others. Wants payment for half of the channels . Pure junk.

I can only give this a 2-star for now. Will update if issues are resolved with Future firmware update. Pro's: Amazing picture and sound quality. Build's a library of your movie backups and an easy way to play them. Sorta-con: The included Android apps are typically out of date and no longer supported by their authors, either on Android 11 which this unit runs on, if at all. If you buy a Dune that is not the "Netflix compatible player" (only a few Dune devices fit this category), the Apps for Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc are not very good. You buy this player (Dune HD 8k Solo) for the playback of your media backups. So not a total knock, but if these players could play Netflix etc as well as media backups, this would be the only device you would need. Con's: I am coming from a Dune HD 4k Solo, which works really well with a few minor bugs that still persist: Locks up when trying to rewind on some 4k media. Sometimes locks up when trying to fast-forward 4k media. <- (Dune HD 4k Solo bugs). This Dune HD 8k Solo, cannot rewind at all on 4k media or 1080p media (didn't try with DVD backups yet), except for chapter skip backwards which does work. I had latest firmware when I got it, found that there was Beta firmware, so installed that. Did not help with any of the issues.

Outstanding picture quality and sound quality

Following the sad loss of my wife to cancer last year I decided to have a complete change to the lounge so setup a state of the art home cinema system as Diane would not allow speakers all over the place. Part of the project meant moving my rather large home built Home Theatre PC into the lounge but had concerns with it being Windows 7 and running Media Portal that the new video 4k video card would have issues finding a suitable driver. I wished something existed that could read my 4tb attached hard drive but superior quality to my current T95 box. I tried the NVIDIA SHIELD but found it bloated and very limited, I then came across this and all my prayers have been answered. I just want it to handle my film and music collection and all this is copying over to my hard drive as I type. Once done I will be able to install the drive into the Dune and through the box settings add my film collection, sorted. So easy so far and trying 8k YouTube content I was extremely impressed with the sound and picture quality. I did have one issue, once booted the box up for the first time the remote refused to connect when holding the correct two buttons for 3 seconds, I was getting nowhere for half an hour, changing the batteries fixed the problem but that may have been coincidence as the box may have still being initialising and just needed a bit of time. I did a manual installation adding my broadband via WiFi and the box connected easily, it then initiated a firmware update which took 10 minutes, moments later the Bluetooth remote also wanted to update and that took seconds. If you want a superb bit of kit to handle your large film and music collection then go for this it really is the right thing. It's robust, well made and looks really good. I connected HDMI to the amp and the phono outputs to my music sockets on my amp, probably didn't need to do both but just felt sound may be better if music was sent by dedicated source such as the phono outputs. I have never been so happy with a purchase as much as this, it's incredible. Footnote; Sampled my first video from box to my Dolby Surround amp and it had to be Blade Runner, brilliant, absolutely brilliant, better than the cinema with all my home comforts. Only gripe is movement sensor or neutral button to light up backlit remote would be nice. tj

Très bel appareil Il donne une impression de qualité et de robustesse. Interface différente du Zidoo Z30 PRO mais une fois qu'on s'y habitue c'est très bien aussi, même si j'ai un faible pour le Zidoo. il faut évidemment une télévision minimum 4K pour en profiter pleinement. Upscaling très bien. Tous les formats vidéo et audio actuels y sont … Après un an d'utilisation j'en suis très content. Toutefois petit bémol avec le format DTS qui n'est pas toujours lu sur certaines TV LG en particuliers. on peut contourner le pb soit avec un ampli audio ou barre de son ou faire une modification dans les réglages... Je n'ai testé que la partie vidéo films série etc tout formats ce qui est sa fonction principal à mon sens...
