Powerful small salad spinner
I love the design of this small salad spinner. And when I say small, we are talking about the size of a small frying pan with space for 2 small salads or one larger salad. The size is great for a family of 2 or a single person who's cupboards are space-starved but who want an option to wash and clean lettuce, spinach, etc. This is a great little design and here's why I love it:1) the design of the spinning handle creates such a great amount of centrifugal force that it really does a nice job of getting those last drops of water off. It's kind of akin to the final spin cycle on your washing machine.2) the handle design (like a good 2.5 qt cooking pot) makes straining your fruits or veggies easy. There are nice spouts located on both sides of the strainer that allow straining for left or righties. I consider this a very thoughtful design element.The spinning motion is smooth and easy and fast. As one reviewer stated, contents will go flying if opened while still spinning. This creates such good centrifugal force that it's probably advised to WAIT to open the lid before removing the contents.I was very pleased with the overall quality for the price. The materials used are quality materials (the bottom is more like a Tupperware container and not a brittle plastic as I had imagined). This is really a great addition to a kitchen, college dorm, apartment wherever. If you are preparing salads for an entire family, this probably is not the spinner for you. This spinner is fit for 1 or 2 people unless you want to spin and spin. :)The quality is great. I am very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it.

After 1.5 yrs, it's still great small salad spinner at bargain price
After 18 mos. use, I still rate it a strong 5 star: holding up great; does a great job of spinning off water from the salad leaves; sturdy; even does fine in dishwasher upper tray, though we don't need to clean it very often. Wish they also made a slightly larger version, but for two of us, it's adequate; sometimes we have to run several batches through it in order to get enough lettuce for us both to have large salads.Pros: (1) very sturdy; (2) spinner easy to turn and spins great; (3) very inexpensive on Amazon.Con: small--holds just enough to be great for 2 people. If you want large salad for 2, or have more people, you'd have to reload it sev times.Only had it 2 wks, but it's so well made and thick plastic that I expect it to hold up well for a long time. I'll re-post in future if it fails to hold up.

Nice Size for 1 or 2
I bought one of these for my sister, and liked it so much, I ordered one for myself. I've looked at so many of them, but there are a couple of things about the design of this one that I liked:First, my old one drained all the way through, instead of catching the water in the container, so I had to hold it over the sink with one hand and try to spin it with the other, which was awkward. This one catches the water, and you just tip it in the sink to drain.Second, the handle is convenient to grip, so you can hold it firmly down on the counter with one hand on the handle, and spin it easily with the other.Some of them have a hole for water, but I like to rinse the head of lettuce under the faucet, tear the leaves into the spinner, and then spin them dry. You could also tear the leaves and place them in the spinner, and then fill the whole thing with water and agitate them and then drain and spin, or tear them into the basket, rinse under running water and then drain and spin.This one is less expensive than most of them, and it's nicely made. If you have a large family, or you make huge amounts of salad at a time, you might want a bigger one.

* UPDATE * 5 YEARS and still Working *
This is an UPDATE to my original review. I just noticed this says, "Last purchased Dec 20, 2018Color: White/Green | View order" Yes, it's been nearly 5 years ago that I purchased this and I use it 2 to 3 times a week. That said, I do take care of my cooking supplies. When it's not in use, I slide it in a bag and put it back in its original box, under the center island. It has been a little workhorse. I am looking for a bigger salad spinner and that's the only reason I'm looking for something else, because of the vegetables and fruits I'm wanting to wash.For what I actually DISLIKE about this. It does NOT get rid of all the water in the greens, although I'm not sure any of them do. After using it, I lay 3 or 4 paper towels on the table and put the lettuce on it. Then I take another paper towel over the top of all the lettuce, until I'm satisfied that it's pretty dry. The dryer the better. I then put the greens in a plastic storage container, top it with a folded paper towel and turn it upside down in the refrigerator.WHY?? Because if you place a paper towel on top of your lettuce or greens and turn them upside down, the paper towel will draw the moisture off the greens and moisture is the ENEMY. Your greens will last TWICE as long in the refrigerator.The one other thing I dislike about this, is that the spinner top piece is held together by a small nut, that you have no way of adjusting or replacing. Every few uses, it makes a loud CRACKING sound and the top makes a kind of JUMP movement. I'll think my spinner just broke, but it appears to still be working. Not sure why it does that. But after working Faithfully for 5 YEARS, I more than think I got my money's worth and I highly recommend it. I just need something a little bigger to wash bigger produce in. I will still use this for regular sized salads.I might just add one more thing and this is something I do with a lot of my kitchen gadgets. Every couple of months or so, I put the top unit into a huge plastic bowl with water and white vinegar and leave it 20 minutes or so, to disinfect any parts up inside it. I know, that's probably overkill, but I can't stand the thought of bacteria getting in anywhere. Especially, when you hear so much about Listeria and everything. It doesn't hurt to play it safe. Most contaminated lettuce products have been in BAGGED SALADS, hence it's really safer to make your own fresh at home! AMEN!!MY ORIGINAL REVIEWThis is a "Good" little salad spinner. Some reviewers have said this is "Micro Sized." That is not entirely true. It is big enough for two nice size dinner salads. If you want more, you just have to spin more. I've had other salad spinners in the past. None of them have lasted more than a few months, because I used them frequently and they'll get to the point that the spinner goes around and the basket doesn't. CRAP!!! So, here's what's good & bad about this little guy.The GOOD Points:!. It has a handle on it, that makes it convenient and a lot easier to handle and control. Less chance of dropping it.2. It does a good job of spinning the water out quickly and has two pour spouts to pour the water off.3. It locks, so the top doesn't fall off, while pouring the water off.4. It spins freely, not stiff like some.The BAD Points:1. The underside of the top has a non-tightening screw and it's just a matter of time, before that loosens, making it inoperable.2. The underside of the top has an open area where bacteria can be trapped.3. There is another screw in the underside of the top that might pose a problem. Not sure how long this unit will last. It was a good idea, but not sure if the execution of this product was done as well as it could have been.The thing that concerns me the most, is that water gets up into the area under the top of the unit. This can allow mold to grow. What I am doing is to wash the salad spinner and then putting a small amount of white vinegar into the sink and soaking the top of the unit for about 15 minutes. Then I let it air dry. It's just a way of being extracareful. Probably overkill, but I like to be safe.I do recommend this little salad spinner, because I like it and it seems to work really well. If I was designing it, I would have done a couple of things a little different, but I think we all think that about some things. Given the salad spinners I've used in the past and the low price on this one, it's a pretty good buy. Thank you for reading my review.Thank you for reading my review.
