nothing similar out there
this one is for my friends survival bag. Even I expected the worse from made in China, the product is well made, good quality. both piece fit perfect into the handle, the threads are made solid and stable. The case that come with make it perfect for the field, if in the bag or on the belt. In my opinion one of the best multi sharpener, when you are looking for something light weight that takes little space. Together with "The puck" from Lansky, there is nearly nothing you can't sharp in the field. By the way there is a nice little youtube clip about this, so have a look.I don't like the fact, that I have no clue if this product was made under inhumane conditions or not, I would prefer to have this product made here in switzerland;) even for twice the price, but there is nothing useable out there that is similar to this one...

Best option for sharpening most serrated knives
If you want to do the best job of sharpening most serrated knives (not micro serrations) this is the best single option that I have found. It fits the serrations on my Gerbers, SOGs, and CRKTs. The length of each section is long enough to sharpen consistently at that size with a reasonable stroke length. A tapered spike like on the Smith's PP1 will do weird things to the serrations unless you take extremely short strokes. This product avoids that problem. The flat side will also work for touching up damage on a flat blade. The diamond particles are a bit coarse for what I would choose to sharpen a flat blade with in the final stages, but they are a reasonable choice if you only have one grit. This is small and light enough to bring with you most of the time.

Not a bad sharpener
Not the best, but definitely not the worst. I've never been a skilled sharpener, this product after watching YouTube reviews, seemed like it had potential. I find it works best for serrated blades, and it's most likely my lack of skill, but I wasn't able to attain a razor sharp edge on straight blades. I'd buy this again, but not as primary sharpener, either as a backup or specifically for serrations. Overall it does what it's supposed to, I cant flaw it for my lack of skill. It's a solid sharpener and hopefully with practice I'll pass the paper cut test.

Great idea, great packaging
Works very well for serrated knives. The only complaint is that the "flat side" of the diamond stone seems to smooth out very quickly. I suspect this is a bonding issue and not a maintenance issue. If it is a maintenance issue, CRKT needs to include instructions for cleaning the surface, if any restoration is even possible. Great idea, great packaging, just get the diamond bonding right.

Another Great Columbia River Product
I gave this 5 Stars. It does what you expect at a good price. Having said, I think that as thin as portion of the sharpener is that some reinforcement in the case, (or possibly the addition of a hard case), would be an improvement in protection. I found that several light stokes sharpened even the most dull knife and shear. DON'T BEAR DOWN ON THIS TOOL ... it won't help. IMO the Buck knives can be difficult to keep sharp. This sharpener has worked well for me in that regard. Also, I've touched up every serrated blade in the house. The online video is very helpful. For me it was certainly worth every penny!

One Star
Like the others...diamond coating wore off quickly. Not CRKT quality in my opinion.

inconsistent grit makes mine a return
The design of the sharpener is great for serrations. I bought it to use on knives with different serration sizes. The issue on mine is QC. It is supposed to be 600 grit, which really should be equivalent to maybe a 360, 400 grit sandpaper. Mine feels like 280-320, on average, so a little coarser than expected. The smallest size rod feels like 180 grit to me and I wouldn't let it touch a knife, even to set an edge. On the other size sections, there are several spots with clumps of diamond that when I ran them down a steel edge they caught. If you would pull them through, you'd ruin your edge.Overall, the design is cool but I'm not sure whether or not to ask for another one or just let them have it back. Even f the qc issues were on my piece only, the grit was a little rougher than hoped. A piece without the QC issues I described would be 4 stars.
