I mounted my <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002EXYPM/">umbrella clothesline(/a> by hanging it from the center of the old canopy frame over my patio and stabilizing it with beach umbrella bags, but I was worried that the canopy frame might break under the load of wet clothes. I got this 2" piece of pipe and an end cap to rest on the ground, and my clothesline pole fits inside of it perfectly with enough room to spare to pour in sand to give the pole a firm contact with the ground so the ground will hold the weight. The clothesline turns freely like it's designed to do when installed in the ground (which I didn't want to do because we rent), and now I can screw a galvanized planter around the base and sit container plantings inside for a nice appearance. Worked out great!
