Excellect choice if you do no have a lan connection on your laptop
I had purchased a Cable Matters USB3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Network Adapter and it worked Great for Windows 10 and I thought it might work for 2012R2. I contacted cable matters and they said it would work. It did not. I looked into this Star Tech USB3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit and it also said it worked for Windows 10 but did not say it would work for Server 2012R2. I left a message for Star Tech and they said it would work so purchased it. Just received it today and plugged it in on my Server 2012R2 and it worked without using the disk. The system found the driver and installed it automatically. I ran a network speed test on the star tech USB 30 to Ethernet vs a gigabit lan network connection to the internet thru Comcast and got similar connection speeds with both. The only downfall is the size of the adapter as you need room for 2 lan connections

Did exactly what I needed, in the way I needed it to.
I was having some trouble with my onboard ethernet port, so rather than run it all down, or replace the motherboard preemptively, I just decided to go this route. I've had good luck with USB Ethernet adapters before, so I wasn't too worried. Fortunately, this one presents itself to the system as two separate interfaces, so you could use this if you wanted to have your machine function as a router, or some other dual-homed system. In my case, I just bonded the two interfaces into one, and increased the performance. It works perfectly.

Works fine for Static Link Aggregation if you have an Intel Adapter on your Motherboard
You need at least one Intel Adapter to do Link Aggregation with their PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility. I have an Intel Adapter on my motherboard and I've teamed all three connections, no problem. I wasn't able to use a USB extension without it dropping one of the ports, but it's not that big of deal. Overall, good value.

Easy way to add extra Ethernet ports.
Works great. Easy installation. Instead of using the enclosed cd I downloaded the driver from the manufacturer’s website. It worked immediately without any issues on my windows 10 machine. The adapter also has a pass through USB port so you don’t lose the one you connect to.

Works great, but one possible caveat
I needed the ability for my Microsoft Surface Pro 6 tablet to connect to two different networks. This devices does the job perfectly. Really happy that it has a USB pass-thru port too. The only caveat I have had with this device is the inability to using wake-on-lan functionality. If it does work in this setup, I don't know how.

Works great with VMware Workstation Pro for setting up virtual machines on a virtual NIC configured for bridged mode specific to this dual NIC adapter. No need to install drivers on your VMs if you do it this way. Great for labs and experimental environments that are prohibited from connecting to live production environments. Windows will detect both NICs as ASIX-brand. (Just an FYI.)

This worked pretty well for a few months but after a while the adapter would just reboot itself and lose connection. You would have to un-plug it and plug it back in... resetting all my network connections/tunnels. Very annoying.

Exactly the product I needed.
This product works as described. I am using this as an extension of NIC ports for my VMWare ESXI lab server and after finding the right drivers it works great.

Works with no drivers needed

Assolutamente da evitare su sistemi Arm. In ambiente x86 dovrebbe funzionare ma non ho provato

While the vendor provided five pages of documentation, it does not contain the necessary information for a regular user to setup or troubleshoot the adapter.

only dual port 2x1gbit USB adapter, but pricy! you can buy a usb powered switch for this, even a mini pc with multiple ports. price was even bumped by almost 30% since a year ago it needed no drivers on my recent linux os installs
