The Miracles Of Santo Fico Paperback – 2 Aug. 2004

Got this book from a collection in a reception when on holiday, could not see anything else so I thought it will have to do, I have to have something to read. What a surprise, brilliant funny and heart warming. I read it within 2 days, could not put it down. I have now read it twice and it was better second time. This author needs to bring out more stories like this.

Well written and evoking a small town in Italy this is something a bit different. We slowly learn of old feuds and a great deal happens. It’s timeless and slightly unreal.

Tried to get a hold of this book for such a long time, Funny, moving and welll worth tracking it down

it is one of the most beautiful books that I have come across. The author has a wonderful feeling of Italy and reading it reminded me of coach tours of Italy of passing through small towns on a coach and wondering about the people in those small towns .Smith writes about these people who brought up in the Catholic faith where sin is in the forefront of their dailyexistence and the fear of retribution from Heaven ever present and the priest and confession make the penitent continue with daily existence .Father Elio Caproni is a wonderful creation and this novel deserves a movie.I hope Time Warner can persuade Dennis Smith to do a book tour of the United States promoting his wonderful book. Perhaps the ending is a tad sad for young readers .

I love this book.I cant recommend it highly enough.It is funny and romantic and uplifting .It has a feel of Chocolat but this is Italy and its far more satisfying.It definately should be made into a film.I cannot be without this book for too long and its just sad there isnt any more of them.You have to read this book.It has to be in my top five alltime.

Well what a surprise, after a slow start - but only a couple chapters I was hooked. A wonderful summer read - take it on holiday - especially if you're going to Italy!! Utterly magical.

It left me wanting to get to the next chapter to find out what had happened to the people in the past. The autor was holding back and teasing to make you want to read on at the same time as another story unfolds.

I've read this book thru twice. It is one of my top favourite novels. I can't fault it at all. It is truly a delightful book. You can't wait to finish reading it, but the moment you have, you want to read it all over again. It's got such a 'feel good factor'. It's vibrant, funny, thought provoking, incredibly readable.
