As an affordable entry level into Japanese knives, this knife rocks. Razor sharp out off the box, great edge retention and easy to maintain. If you've been hesitant to spend a little extra for a good knife this is a good way to see what the difference can be for a few dollars more. You won't regret it!

It's OK but
Not good as same size Gyuto. I ordered this one because s gyuto's impressive quality and performance. But honestly I can say sharpness of this knife is just average. Maybe I don't have good luck. Just finished 2 hours of resharpening with 3 different whetstone. I will see the result tomorrow but seems like not enough yet.

The price-performance of this knife is very good. While it has renewed my appreciation for carbon steels, it is a great slicer for when you might unexpectedly be hitting bones, etc. It is a little thick for my tastes, but feels solid and I don't worry about chipping it. It is quite easy to bring the edge back quickly on the stones.

Incredible Sharpness
Sliced through the tuna and salmon without tearing the fish. Be very careful in handling, will easily cut through skin with just a slight touch of the knife.
