Sky-Watcher Quantum 150 Refractor Telescope S11150

After being dissatisfied with the Takahashi Sky 90 as a visual instrument (great photo though with the field flattener), I set on a quest to find the best large aperture APO I could find for 10K or less. Having been on the Astro-Physics 160 EDF wait-list for 6 years now, I decided to purchase one that I could acquire in a reasonably short period of time. After careful consideration I took the plunge into buying a relatively expensive scope with Chinese made optics. I do have a 90mm refractor guide scope with Chinese optics in it and have been pleased with the quality. Well, all I can say is....watch out Teleview, Takahashi and other high end refractor makers. This scope really dilivers!!! VERY SLIGHT color is only visible at high magnifications....and I mean slight. Star images are superb, crisp against a deep black sky....awesome contrast.I have never seen Jupiter or mars in the clarity I have with this scope. Anyone wanting the optical performance of a Tak or Teleview, this is a much better way to go in terms of cost. Is it as mechanically "fit" as those others, not quite...but it is darn close!! Too close to warrant the price difference. So if you are on the edge about going for this scope, I recommend taking the leap of faith...you wont be disappointed!!!
