I've used this case in my truck for 10 years. I now have one in every car we own and keep the key attached to the car's key ring. When I can't take my firearm with me into somewhere, I have at least some peace of mind that it's stored securely in my vehicle. The strap goes around your seat mount so a thief couldn't simply run off with your firearm.It fits a full size pistol and a magazine. I've stored a Beretta 96A1 (full size), Ruger P85 (full size), Glock 19 (compact) and a Sig Sauer P365XL (subcompact) in this case - All at separate times of course.

I have been using this since 2012. I had to tighten the screw on the lock lever a few years ago. Otherwise, it has held up and still works like new.It's great for use while traveling. Holds a compact with 2 spare mags without a problem. It doesn't take up much space. The cable that comes with it has also held up fine.Great light-duty option for travel.

***This review does NOT constitue legal advise!This is a good buy for the money when compairing to similar products such as the "Center of Mass" style box that you will end paying about $40 for the same box by the time you factor in shipping. For some states such as CA you are required to store your handgun in a locked box, but according to CA law a soft-sided gun rug with a small $0.50 lock on it indeed legal. That said this is still a nice box to store your firearm in when going into areas that you cannot legally CCW. Also, this is a decent method of 'safe' storage from small children... but granted a 12 year old could probably break into this box with little effort. Which brings me to the security aspects, they market this box as product that will assure you that, "your valuables are safe and secure." Please don't trust this and live in the real world... it is only made of 20ga. steel which is very very thin (about 1/32 of an inch). Check out this page for more info on steel thickness. [...] That being said, the use of this product is primarily to reduce your liability if your firearm is stolen which is why I purchased this. Also, for CA. if you bolt this down to your vehicle (inside the passenger compartment) it will then be illegal storage (considered an utility compartment) but if you wrap the cable around your seat post it will be then be legal for handgun transport (got to love CA). Also, if you travel by air (which I don't) this box is suppost to serve that purpose well and if you wrap the cable around your luggage frame it can fly inside your suitcase (told by a friend who does travel by air) (obviously for checked baggage and not carry on lol).Also the fit and finish on this can leave more to be desired as others have stated... but for the price what do you expect. The biggest fit and finish issue was with the box closed the lid would be open about 1/8 of an inch. Simple fix, unscrew the latch and put the latch in a vice... bend the latch (as it sits in the box... upward more into the lid) about 10 to 15 degrees and then reinstall. Problem fixed... box now closes very tight. If you do this you will feel a little more resistance in the lock as you open and close too. With the 200 version that I bought it will fit a Glock 23 comfortably with about a inch on each side. And with the box closed the foam compresses the firearm enough that even when shaking pretty good the firearm does not move within the case.

I am certain that many vaults are better than this, but, I would bet that none are better for this price! It really looks good!It is a China made product, but do NOT let that fact make you doubt it's quality. It is made very well.It can hold a smaller pistol or cash and valuables as it states and the tie-cable is good quality with plastic coated surface.You would not......NOT be able to use it to hold a full size 1911 Colt 45 auto, I am sure that they mean well, but this is much too small for that longer full size Colt 45 Auto! (IF you DO use it for the full size 45 auto, there is a good likelihood that a drop or bang could cause the gun to contact the outside of the case IMHO.) However, the smaller/shorter Springfield XD (and other shorter/smaller pistols would also do very well),will and DO work just fine. It is just not quite large enough to fit the longer pistols in inside and still protect it from bangs and bumps as it should.... a hard bang or drop very well may cause it to contact the inside of the box. This is a great safety enclosure for the money.It is made solid and the formed steel is stout! If you were looking for some really serious security, you would not be looking at a $20 vault, right? So do check out it's size and obvious limitations - everything no matter how expensive it may be, is limited in some way. Some are quite heavy too.This does give you the ability to securely strap it to something solid and make it more difficult for a crook or small child to get into.I will recommend this to any one to attach to bed stand or dresser to hold a security pistol or to make secure your wallet at night in your hotel room, etc. This is a great product for the price. Buy with confidence.
