Shimpo-Nidec - Banding Wheel 9 7⁄8” D x 7 ½” H

I have seen and worked with other banding wheels. This is the one you want. Super smooth roller bearings and plenty of weight inertia. Spin it and it will keep spinning for 4-5 minutes without any drag. That's what you call smooth

The acidity of porcelain and B mix cause the blue coating to flake off the top of these banding wheels after a couple of months. It is a real shame because otherwise there are incredible banding wheels. Their movement is flawless and they are heavy and sturdy to work on. I have contacted Shimpo directly and they have no solution. These banding wheels are to expensive to replace every few months but they contaminate your work with flakes of blue paint that coats the wheel as it chips off. Beware buying these if you use a high acid clay

The Shimpo Nidec banding wheels are very expensive and supposedly last a lifetime. This one had the enamel coating chip off on first use and rusted immediately. Unfortunately, I didn't use it and realize this within the 30 day return window, so Amazon and The Ceramic Shop offered me NO recourse, replacement or rebate. Extremely disappointed to have spent a $100 on a clearly defective item. TOTAL RIPOFF!!

I love how solid and smooth this banding wheel feels! I think I could actually trim pots if I needed a foot! Nice color also. Lost one star due to cost, but very high quality!
