Very good. Comes very fancy in a box and in a bag. But the person for whom it was meant to be said he would preffer it with a square shape, that aligns better the way one reads, It does not alter the shape of words. It should only be used for words, not for maaany words, because then it does alter the shape of what is being read.

Great in a pinch but lens size requires a lot of hand moving and adjustment

Cheap, poor quality switch, yuck. I only got this because my 90-year-old mother-in-law had this same model, and the switch failed. She wouldn't upgrade to a better model, because she was used to this one.

This was a gift for my 83 Y.O. mother diagnosed with macular degeneration. The item was sent to her directly, so I didn't have the opportunity to try it out first. My mother has a habit of pointing out anything that isn't 100% perfect, so here's what she told me: "Didn't they have a rectangular model? I have to look exactly in the middle of this one to see anything. A rectangular glass would be easier for me" This replaced a non-lighted cheapo magnifying glass,and I thought it would be more to her liking. Perhaps the more she uses it, the more she will appreciate it. In the meantime, I'll be looking for an LED rectangular unit hoping not to be spending as much.
