The sound is from the hashing boards moving back and forth against the metal frame. This does not mean there are loose parts and does not mean the item is defective.

WARNING FOR FELLOW NEWBIES!
WARNING! Three words: HUNGRY, LOUD, and HOT. Hungry? In an American household, you'll have to get creative with electrical circuits to make this work safely, consult knowledgeable people, and expect your monthly electric bill to go up by whatever 1000 kWh costs you. Loud? Like two vacuum cleaners in a shouting match, complete with occasional nails on chalkboard harmonics, your housemates will toss you out on the street with this thing if you don't address the sheer noise, again consult people who understand acoustics, this monster is NOT intended for inside house use. Hot? Forget about muffling the noise with a pile of pillows unless you want a $3000 bonfire, and possibly your entire house, 200+ CFM of ventilation is a good start, and make sure all that hot air goes somewhere both safe and away.That said...I'm having a blast with this thing, its working incredibly well and almost-solving all the issues with this behemoth has been a very fun challenge it itself. I'd buy another one or two if I didn't want to redesign my house to make living with more than one livable. 10/10.

50% Failure with too short of return window
Bought two units at the same time from US company because I did not want to deal with overseas orders from China. Manufacturer warranty is 90 days. This US company will only let you return it for 30 days. One unit failed on day 31 and the "return window" was closed. 50% failure rate from this vendor. Now I have to deal with overseas repair anyway.

I don't break even after paying electricity cost
Don't waste your money on this. I bought 4 and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I don't even break even after paying my 700$ electric bill!!!!!

Great, but LOUD!!!
Ignore the false (1) one star reviews. These things are great. But, they are very loud, consume electricity (1450 Watts) like it's candy, need a 220 volt outlet and proper ventilation. You can make up to 0.003 BTC per day with the right pool, and you will want more and more until they consume your life.

Solid Miner.It is extremely loud and exhausts a lot of heat. Web user interface is very straightforward and simple to use. Mining power is true to product title. Product support is surprisingly responsive. Very Happy with purchase.

Buyer beware of faulty units being sold.
The unit had one board not working after just a couple days of running the one board stopped functioning and it only put out 9.2 TH/sec. I sent it back for not working as advertised.

Perfect and trusted. Have come across a lot of scams on other sites trying to sell these. Went with Amazon with great results. Even though the price is a little higher, it is a trust thing. I'm at ease
