Perfect replacement for Midwest Hearth fan thermostat
I purchased this to replace the old thermostat in my Midwest Hearth fan that was not working. Being new to hearth fans, I didn't realize, until I tested the new thermostat, that they are designed to turn the fan on when the temperature reaches 115 degrees. In my case, I have a gas fireplace and the open flame burns above the thermostat in the fire box, while the thermostat is outside and under the fire box in the base of the hearth. That said, it takes about 10 minutes for the flame to heat my fire box to the point it triggers the thermostat and activates the fan.Later, I was able to 'unstick' my OLD thermostat by heating up the fire box by making it very hot(maybe 300), but even after it began working again, it would still stick a little, and it was reluctant to come on at 115 degrees, so I am glad I replaced it. I would recommend this product if your hearth fan takes an abnormally long time to activate, or if it doesn't come on at all.

needs setting in mounting bracket
the price is right, however, if you have to mount this unit on the inside of your stove/fireplace it's going to have to be altered. The mounting bracket is not attached to the sensor and (the sensor) will fall out once installed if not secured. Amazon was kind enough to replace my first unit that I tried to secure the sensor into the bracket without success. This time I secured the bracket to the sensor with mastic prior to installation. Really don't understand how this would mount unless you have a smaller hole in the panel then the sensor is, then mount it from the rear of the panel. Now I find that the replacement doesn't work, won't close with appropriate heat, I give up !

Just the right temp range
I was able to use this thermostat to control the fan I installed on my RV refrigerator vents. It turns the fans on when needed and saves my RV batteries. The booster fan it controls (also from Amazon) provides additional airflow to the rear coils even in 100 degree weather and takes some of the strain off the refrigerator cooling system
