Don't even think about building this before doing some of UGears other, easier to assemble models first, and to familiarise yourself with their way of working. It's certainly not the easiest thing to put together, especially if you have fat fingers like mine. However, if you follow the instructions closely, sand and wax every moving part carefully, and check the movement remains free and easy as you assemble, then you will be rewarded with a working model! My only gripe is that by using twisted rubber bands for the power unit instead of a coiled spring for example, you only get about 10 - 12 seconds of operation before you have to wind it up again. That apart, it's an awesome design for a flat pack! Took me about 20 hours in total to build, but I was being extra cautious. Highly recommended.

have almost finished this puzzle. Many parts broken most able to glue together. Had to contact UGEARS for replacement parts.Take your time with this wooden puzzle. I found that part with an arc are more likely to break when pushing out. I start cuttingthem out from the back. When putting together, on the push in, support the back and watch where you hold. Hold as close tothe end you are pushing in. The joints are very tight wax all joints easy to fit and helps if you have to take apart. A lot of smallparts most of the prep work is the time consuming part. There are many interlocking parts in the joint I cut and glued thesejoints.Apart from that I enjoyed this puzzle it is very challenging the challenge is the small thin parts UGEARS make good puzzles.

I bought this model for my Dad, a lifelong aviation and modelmaking enthusiast. I think it's possibly the best gift I've ever given to him.The components are precision cut, the pages and pages of instructions are really clear, and other than a bit of extra candle wax to lubricate some of the gears, and a couple of extra rubber bands (plus something to cut them with), absolutely everything necessary was included in the box.I have been getting regular updates on his progress over the past couple of months (he's enjoying taking his time with it in between other projects), and he reports that the best thing about this kit is the way everything works and fits together so snugly and precisely. It's challenging, even for someone with 50 years of model kit experience, but the ingenuity of the design and the quality of components makes it very satisfying and worthwhile. No bodging required!

As ever, the build was great fun. This is a very complex model that ultimately rewards you for the effort you invest, and it certainly is for more experienced builders.However, as is often the case with Ugears models, you have to go back to them, once built, to get them to work properly. Here, the main unit is good: if you wind it up, the arm rotates well. But when you attach the plane or the helicopter, little flows freely. I had to go back to these vehicles and understand which parts were creating friction, take sections apart and wax/smooth. After a bit of testing, it should become apparent as to what's slowing things down. I found that the small rear prop on the helicopter required loosening and the the connection between the shaft on the plane and the cog needed waxing.Once sorted, the product performs as you'd hope, but it was quite a struggle to get everything working properly.

This was probably my favourite model to build. There’s a lot to do and some of the parts were quite difficult to get into place.
