Rabbit-Raising Problem Solver

Love the simple explaining of things
It explains things in a simple form and does not expect everyone to just know things in order to read it. It has been helpful.I got this book because I am starting to raise meat rabbits on our farm. This book has not sugar coated things in that aspect. Page 58 heading says it best" The ethics of raising and eating rabbits" Which is the truth. It also goes onto explain things for the average pet owner too. There are behaviors that are explained that help me know what they are trying to communicate with me. Every animal I have ever raised I try and learn what their behavior means.Just because I am choosing to homestead in a way does not mean I do not want these animals to have a good quality of life while they are here.

Good for pet owners and breeders
I have read MANY rabbit books and this one is my favorite. It can easily be used by both rabbit breeders and pet owners which I have never encountered in another rabbit book. It covers almost all aspects of owning one or more rabbits. Literally the ONLY things missing from this book are a complete list of plants that are toxic to rabbits and information on training your rabbits. It has a very in depth section on rabbit illnesses which is a must for any emergencies. It also includes a list of resources and recommended reading at the end. Part of what I really like about this book is that it does not try to shame rabbit breeders (including ones who breed for meat) while also acknowledging that rabbits can make great pets.

How the heck does one transition from a caretaker to a life taker and then back again?
This is a great book. Rather than going by the same vomit that is regurgitated on the internet without any basis, this book takes a hard look at what will and will not work for rabbit raising. It has answered such questions as:In 10 or 12 weeks, some of those kits will end up in the freezer. How the heck does one transition from a caretaker to a life taker and then back again?Lightweight hardware cloth. It’s cheap and tempting and your local raccoons and coyotes really hope you’ll use it for the floor of your hutches, especially fastened to wood with flimsy staples. Should I use it?I would definitely purchase this book if rabbit ranching is on your horizon.

The most useful book on rabbits I have found in 30+ years
This is the most useful book on rabbits I have ever read in 30+ years of rabbit raising. It has clear information for beginners as well as enough detail and substance to interest long-time rabbit keepers. The breadth of topics is incredible; there is very little I have encountered in rabbit keeping that is not addressed here. Its balanced approach is properly concerned with the welfare of the animals but wonderfully free of the PETA/animal rights influence evident in so many books regarding the care of animals. Cheers to Karen Patry for publishing such a useful book!

Ordered Two!
This book was a gift for our granddaughter who raises rabbits for profit and she has increased her business at 9 years old to supply local markets! We rescued two bunnies that were orphans and so WE needed the information too. Both are huge, friendly pets who benefited from the advice we attribute to this informative book.

Fantastic Resource
Whether you plan to breed rabbits or just have one as a pet, this book is a fantastic resource. It answers so many questions, and gives advice on how to help your rabbit get to know his/her new home as well as you. I love this book.

A must have for any rabbit owner, breeder, or rabbit lover!
This book is so helpful! There are so many questions answered about where to start and what you need to know. I am so glad that it is now a part of my ever expanding library on animals. It was such a great help when my doe had her kits and how to care for the little problems that arise. I would buy this book again and again

Not suitable for UK domestic bunny owners
Lots of the information included in the book goes against RAWF guidance, it downplays companionship, neutering and recommended space. The layout of the book is all question and answer which I find quite irritating.
