World War II in Colour Narrated by Robert Powell 10 DVD Set Complete Series

This is an excellent series that brings our recent history to a new level of 'reality' through colour. Very little of the footage is genuinely colour original, most is coloured or tinted black and white but this doesn't take away the added visual and, to a degree, psychological impact this has. You will spot some clips are used more than once but the well wrtten narrative and perfectly pitched voice of Robert Powell serve up an engaging, informative and educational experience.Well worth the money and recommended viewing for anyone studying this period, who had family or friends affected directly by the war or who simply want to know more about how such a terrible period in our world's history came about in the first place. Lessons I don't think we will ever learn.

Similar in scope and depth to other WW 2 series I've seen. The bias against the Germans is still evident but not as much as other series. Hitler never wanted war with the West but England and France obstinately refused to negotiate a deal with Poland over the Danzig corridor which would have given Hitler access to East Prussia and a smooth path to defeat his hated enemy the Soviets.

Seeing the war play out in colour makes it seem more real unlike seeing it in black and white. I liked all the background info leading up to the war explaining exactly why the war started. Somethings I already knew and some I didn’t. It makes more sense now seeing it in order rather than random episodes on TV, this is why I have given it top marks

Very good series, saw it on tv, bought it for my dad who was there when it all happened. So much more vivid in colour

I learned a lot about WW2, far more complex than I had understood.

Just bought the complete set , well put together and presented
