These bags are quite sturdy. I use them for various things like holding jewelry or bar soap in the shower. They haven't frayed yet or shown signs of wear. The fabric is stiffer with heavier weight, like a linen.

Simple basic cotton bag. I tried some from hobby lobby first, but they were such thin cotton they were too 'see through' for my use. I am using these to make a reusable advent callendar and I didn't want the kiddos to be able to see through the bags to see what the surprises were. These are much more sufficient. Also I didn't want burlap becuase the kids find it too 'scratchy' but these are soft enough for them. At the time I'm ordering this is the best price I've found too.+ Softer than burlap+ Thicker than most muslin, thicker but not quite canvas+ Cotton string - (no tacky nylong strings)+ All interior seams are fully serged to prevent fraying edges
