MindWare Extreme Dot To Dot (Legends & Lore) Toy

I love these extreme dot to dot puzzles and so does my class.Any teacher can tell you that finding something to engage that "super busy" (ADHD) child can be not only difficult, but finding something that's also educational can be darn near impossible. These dot to dots fit the bill perfectly for several of my students. The precision and focus necessary for these gave these students a way to get "in the zone" that other products couldn't. I used them as rewards, but I also gave them as challenge material.Though it may sound silly, it did my fourth graders good to sit and count to 1000+ from time to time. We also played a "game" where they had to keep trying to guess or infer what the picture was going to be. They would write which dot they were on when they made their prediction and then tried to beat their "best dot."These are also a whole lot of fun! I love sitting down and doing them too. I just wish that the copyright allowed for limited copying because it's a great resource for those kids who need it. It just gets a little expensive. That's why I gave it 3 stars for durability.

We purchased this as a Christmas stocking stuffer for our 10 year old son. He truly enjoys drawing and coloring as well as brain-bending activities, but found that standard coloring books were too childish for him. We had a hard time finding age-appropriate "brain exercising" & activity books that were not too challenging for him. He is a bright boy and extremely smart, but faces several challenges due to behavioral issues, which impedes his ability to learn and focus on things. We have found that this book gives him the encouragement and the appropriate confidence and self-esteem boost that he needs to encourage positive behaviors.This book was absolutely perfect and it combined two things he loved, challenges as well as legends and lore. The smile that came upon his face when he saw this book was outstanding and now as he completes one of the pages, he proudly displays them and is quite proud of his accomplishments.On a side note, it is important that you encourage the kids to read the directions as it isn't just "connect the dots" and then a picture forms. Otherwise, this is a great activity that is perfect for children who are tired of the boring activity books and connect the dots that are very basic.

Just for fun for grand kids

This was my 6-year-old granddaughter's absolute favorite Christmas gift! It is her "take-along" of choice in the car, to Nanny's house, everywhere! It has reinforced and increased her counting skills and ability to focus on detail. She started with some of the easier ones, but she recently completed the unicorn dot-to-dot with over 1400 dots, and she was so excited! No stopping her now. It makes additional gift shopping easy because there are more books in the series. And it provides long-lasting entertainment, too (not like so many other Christmas gifts). She spends a long time each day working on this, yet we are a month out from Christmas and it is still going strong. Good value for the cost!

The puzzles themselves are very cool and intricate. Some pages have well over a thousand labeled dots. I could not believe that this thin book was $8 though. Of course I didn't read that it only has 48 puzzles, trusting that for the price the book had to be good. I know my 9 year old will love it for the week or so it will take him to get through it!

Most dot to dot books are obvious. You see the numbers and can tell immediately what you will be drawing. This Extreme Dot to Dot is exactly that! Extreme. There are literally hundreds of dots making up these puzzles. Some are even well over 1,000! you can not see what you will be creating until you get pretty far into the puzzle. These Dot to Dots are actually fun for both my 10 year old and my 14 year old! If your child is working on learning larger numbers, this would be a fun tool to use. Definitely not your ordinary dot to dot book.

I bought these for my 9 y/o grandson because he loves doing dot to dot. This is appropriate for his age because the numbers are so high. I watched him doing it and then I decided I wanted one too!! I am 59 y/o and now I am hooked also! You will need reading glasses if your eyes are as old as mine! I bought more for his upcoming birthday too. He will put down his electronic games just to do these books!! They are also great to keep in the car for long trips. Love them for young and old!

My granddaughter loves this type of activity. I had ordered 3 different, all being of the same type, Dot to Dot. the books themselves are of qreat quality, easy to see/read and do. and keeps the younger ones quiet for a very long time, I had purchased them for her to take to her long dentist appointments. It has donethe job and kept her busy for the duration of the dental appts.as she has a couple years to go with the braces. I would order them again in a heart beat, your child will not be disappointed.
