Q: Can I use it for landscape viewing?

Yes, but you must have batteries or an electrical source. The altitude can be moved manually but, the azimuth can only be moved with the electric motor. Also, you will need to purchase an image correcting diagonal or the image will be left/right reversed.

Q: What nexstar is better 102 or 130? I am a beginner and it is for my sons birthday?

Hello, I'm Wayne. I've owned the nexStar 130 for appx. 5 years with no issues. The 102 vs. 130 is a description of the lens size in millimeters. The larger 130mm lens will gather more light allowing for better, deeper sky viewing. With a short eyepiece he'll see Jupiter and Saturn with ease (including some of their moons). I've since moved on to a Meade 200mm telescope, too much for a birthday.

Greetings, The 102slt is an excellent instrument for solar observing! I used a 4" ff/15 Unitron refractor for some 30 years with a quality (white light filter). I can highly recommend Thousand Oaks Optical for high quality glass and Mylar (white light) solar filters. As a former telescope dealer, I likely sold hundreds with no rejections. They can custom make filters for any size or design telescope. Glass is naturally more robust and gives a pleasing orange color of the sun. Mylar filters give a blueish color which can be disconcerting. But compared performance for most delicate detail, the Mylar is usually considered the best even when they look like a wrinkled elephant's ear! But the glass will last a whole lot longer. I just replaced my old glass filter three years ago. They also sell hydrogen alpha filters for observing solar prominences, but a long focus instrument with high magnifications is recommended. As an amateur astronomer of some 38 years, and a former telescope dealer, I have used and sold numerous Thousand Oak solar filters. A reliable company that makes high quality filters. Q: Can you still see stuff even if there is a street light? Or does it have to be completely dark?

With street lights, you are going to be limited to Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and the moon. You might view the Orion nebula M42. I am assuming you are in a suburban or urban area.

Best thing I ever Gifted.

The telescope delivers what it promises. I gifted it to my husband and it works like a charm. I bought it in April 2021 and then it costed me around 70k, totally worth the value. We have seen many celestial objects like Moon (with its craters), Mars, Venus, Saturn (distinctly identifiable because of the rings), Jupiter (along with its 4 big moons) and many phenomena like super moon and solar eclipses. Great purchase. Attaching some of the pictures that we took from our phone.

The media could not be loaded. Very excellent product I could see Orion nebula , Andromeda Galaxy as well as Neptune through this telescope I hope to start my telescope missions as you can see I own Celestron powerseeker 60az refractor telescope on my first image and next this scope so I'm gonna to start my mighty dare school voyage for teaching kids via entire district and state ,this scope is not for my purpose this scope I bought to teach school kids whoever don't know what is telescope?

An Unforgettable Stargazing Experience!

A must-buy for anyone passionate about space! The views are simply stunning—craters on the Moon, Jupiter’s bands, and Saturn’s rings, all in incredible detail. Packaging was good, though the box was slightly damaged. Delivery was on time. The initial setup was tricky, but once you get used to it, it’s very easy to use. One of my best purchases of all time!
