Base not stable on some oven racks
I have to use the hook because the triangular base is unstable on my racks. Fairly accurate though.

Questionable accuracy over time
The first time I used this in my oven, the temperature matched exactly at 375 degrees for the entire duration of our cooking. On subsequent uses, I set the oven to 375 and this thermometer consistently says 425 now, so I don't know if our oven has an issue or the thermometer.

We have used this thermometer several times. In fact, now we just leave it in the oven hanging from a rack. It gives the exact same temperature as the oven setting. So unless the device and the oven control are both wrong to exactly the same degree the thermometer must be accurate. The dial is easy to read though that will depend on where you place it and how clear the oven door window is.
