Prospero Art Jane Austen Playing Cards - Gold Back Deck

Decks of these cards were the perfect gifts for the several Janeites in my family. The cards are very well made, sturdy, glossy and smooth, and a little smaller than standard poker size. The illustrations are excellent and reflect the time and characters of the novels. The four suites are based on four novels: Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion. The two jokers are a surprise and there are quotes from the appropriate novels on the cards. Though I am not a Janeite, I have read the novels and enjoyed them - and I even participate in the whist games my Janeite relatives sometimes hold on Sunday evenings. The drawings and quotes on the cards do not interfere with using these cards for card games. The cards are practical.

I am in love with these cards. I am in love with everything Jane Austen and these cards are a perfect addition. They are just as thick as regular playing cards but the quotes and images from Jane's novels are too cute. I am so happy I purchased these. They are going to be lovely additions to my journals.

Great looking cards, well drawn with quotes. The only draw back is Colonel Brandon is labeled “Mr. Brandon”, as a main character, it grates that the cards named him wrong. You’d think that with all the work that went into the quotes etc, the creator would know the characters names

My wife is a big fan of all things Jane Austen and loves to play games, so what better combination could there be than a Jane Austen deck of cards. Each of the four suits represents one novel: Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Persuasion. The lower cards each has a verse from the particular novel, while the face cards carry the image of a person (The King of Hearts is Fitzwilliam Darcy.) There are also 2 jokers - I'll leave their characters up to you to discover (one male, one female). A great, fun set of cards. I would highly recommend these to someone who loves Jane Austen.

just love Jane Austin, and these cards are just the perfect thing for an Austin fan. The drawings on the cards are charming an example of this is Mr. Collins depicted as the joker. Each card has a quote from one of Austin's works and that adds to the enjoyment of the deck. All in all one of my favorite purchases !!

I love these cards. The illustrations are beautiful and they're good quality. A great gift for any Austen fan.
