Looks good out of the box (UPDATE 7/19)
The good parts...Appears to be engineered and constructed very well.Light bands are independently adjustable by 3 potentiometers. Red, blue, and white (yellowish). 12 bands of light plus IR for full spectrum light capability with IR for fungus control.Shipping box is plain brown package with amazon logo for privacy and to deter prying eyes. Factory box inside is formed foam insulated and worth retaining for when/if movingHousing cool to touch after 2 continuous hours of full operation.Temperature rise in enclosed area (3x4x7) is less than 5 degrees in same time period.Light is bright enough to leave sun spots in eyes if looking directly at light. Could probably get quite a tan if you fell asleep under it.Very quiet operation. Must be in room to hear fans running. Fans turn on when any of the color spectrum knobs are turned on.Includes hanging hardware.Heat sink runs full length and width of light housing to maximize cooling.3 prong heavy duty grounded plug3 year warranty with 30 day return for repair, exchange, or refundFast shipping, ordered on Sunday before Christmas and item was delivered on Tuesday (FYI I live somewhat in the boonies)The bad...No indicators for light intensity. Tuning will require meter or an experienced eye and experimentation.Hanging hardware (YOYO hangers) seem insufficient for weight of light. Essentially it's a shoelace to hold up a 12 pound object. Suggest purchasing better hanging hardware, preferrably a chain and reuse enclosed carabiners. Each light must have it's own electrical outlet. Cannot daisy chain lights (even though manufacturer claimed over the phone it could before ordering) This may be different on the PAR600W version.Power cord touches housing if plugged into standard home wall outlet. Suggest using overhead outlet or mounted power strip.Overall, it's a quality built light fixture.Surprisingly good construction and functionality for price. Will test under 24 hour conditions for next 3 days as I will be utilizing for autoflowering plants. (Manufacturer suggests utilizing 18/6 light cycle) Any significant changes will be noted in future update if/when applicable. If the shortcomings noted above do not change, I will continue to retain and use the light for all it's worth.UPDATED 7/19:Over 3000 hours of use and no problems, no burnouts noticed in led assemblyAnything larger than a 4x4 (roughly 1.2 m) footprint will require more or larger lightsHave only used autoflower/autofem in 3 gallon soil pots with good results utilizing up to 4 plants after adding Mylar/reflective paint on floor and wallsThe yo-yo hangers have surprisingly lasted far longer than initially expected and are still in use though will need replacement soon. I still suggest getting a length or 2 of MILSPEC paracord or chain when purchasing just due to the weight of this thing and the potential damage it can cause if the light falls. It really is built like a tank.Do not underestimate the power of the lights, just because the housing does not get hot does not mean that the LEDs will not burn your girls. Maintain a distance of 16-24â to keep your babies from getting a bad sunburn. You will need to experiment to find the sweet spot to minimize legging. This is not a generic one distance fits all plants situation, you will need to adjust both distance and light intensity to find what works best for you.Roughly $10 a month in operating costs added to electric bill and no extra cooling needed other than an optional 2â air exchanger, (pool hose, cardboard box, duct tape, and a 4â cpu fan) far cheaper than the 420 watt SonAgro HPS that was utilized in the past without adding in the extra cooling costs, ventilation equipment, and/or insulation costs necessary. Not to mention the paranoia attached.Overall, its the best bang for the buck I have experienced so far with this type of lighting.Cannot comment on customer service or support as I have not needed to utilize such so far other than what was mentioned beforehand, IE: so far I have found this to be a well built product.

Impressive beyond expectations
I have not been paid or bribed by amazon or anyone else to leave this review. I am simply trying to be helpful to fellow plant grower so that they can succeed and save money. I was reluctant to go with an led grow lamp at first, after using hps for many years. Even more so was I unsure about choosing an âoff brandâ or anything made in China for that matter. After reading tons of reviews and doing my research, I decided to give Viparspectra a try and I am so glad that I did. This light is awesome! At first, the name and the price made it seem like it was just another knock off amazon brand trying to sell cheap units that promise to be just like the more expensive brands and end up failing at doing so. Not true in this case. This light has a really solid build to it. Out of the box, it seems solid and well made. Itâs extremely bright when turned and it has really cool and usable features. I love how it has a separate Veg and Bloom setting. There are 2 knobs, 1 for each spectrum. Both allow you to dim the intensity. It comes equipped with cooling fans, than perform their job very well. Plus all the hanging hardware you need, which is of quality also. Itâs stealthily quiet too, almost makes no heat at all. I measured 519 watts usage worth both knobs turned to 100%, with my watt meter. My young plants are thriving very well, they look fantastic so far! I would highly recommend this brand and this model to anyone looking for an affordable and high quality grow lamp! Seriously, at this price point, you cannot do better! Donât be distraught just because something is made in China. Manufacturing is all about quality control, not place of origin. Iâll be purchasing a second one very soon because this has impressed me so much.

Good light for a small grow in a small tent... "dots" explained
17.2 pound full spectrum, dimmable, LED grow light. Use varying degrees of white and blue for vegetative plants and add red for flowering plants. This light is great for 1 large plant grow and good for a 2 smaller plant grow. Likely very good for 2 Low Stress Trained plants but my experience with this LED light is still ongoing but promising. Likely very good for a auto-flowering LowRyder White Widow strain.Build quality is good - I have no complaints thus far.I received an answer from Viparspectra regarding what the "dots" represent that surround the dimming switches.I suspected, and posted in the "questions" area, that each "dot" represented a 25% increase in power. 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.My guess is now confirmed. From Viparspectra email I received today."Hi friend, Thanks for your message. Kindly give me a chance to explain it to you, many thanks in advance. It (each dot) represents the percentage of birghtness/intensity. I attached a smilar picture for your reference. Kindly check it please. There are 5 kinds of brightness, 0% 25% 50% 75% 100% Each dot you see represents 25% 50% 75% of brightness. Should you have any concerns, kindly let me know please. I am willing to do my best to help you. Have a nice day. Best regards, Vicky, VIPARSPECTRA Customer Service

Excellent customization, intense light, quiet construction.
Impressive unit with intense light and a very quiet fan. I first bought the 1500 watt Viparsepctra led and it was quite loud. I thought this was the norm until I got this one which is very, very quiet. Light penetration is excellent, and the customization is very useful. The colors are very strong, and if you dial the colors individually you can see the lights are very intense. Keeps very cool in a 4x4 tent with another 1500 watt running. Two of these in a 4x4 tent would be perfect. I will likely need another one in a few months for my summer plants, and will happily order again.Update: Ordered another one. This light is just too versatile. Now that I'm growing more tropical and exotic plants I have a greater need for a light with adjustable settings, and my previous unit still holds up. For the record, I had this thing running 24/7 for almost a year before changing it to 16 hours a day, and it still runs strong. I think the white leds have diminished a little bit in intensity, but the colored leds are strong as ever. I'm still impressed with how intense the lights are when you dial the red or blues individually. I also have a smaller growing space with a lower ceiling that I'd like to fill, and being able to tone down the wattage will manage this nicely. Since the unit will be closer to the plants there will be less need for intense light, and there will be less damage to the plant with the light dimmed. A lot of the plants I am growing required semi-shade/low-light/speckled light, and the dimmable lights are as close as I can get to accommodating this indoors. I want the second unit to be able to adjust my 'vegetative' and 'flowering' settings and experiment with the results. I understand that controlling the intensities of red and blue spectrum can greatly affect both growth cycles in interesting ways, and I'd love to fool around with that. It is still the most silent led I have purchased, and I've got a few at this point.I have several other units at this point after a long period of experimenting. This one is my personal favorite. Although not as powerful as the others, it has more functionality and practicality. It's not loud, or blindingly bright if kept below eye level, and it's customization is incredibly versatile when considering different light requirements for vegetative vs flowering stages, plant species needs, distance from plant, and aesthetics. I have this unit set up in a living room where TV is watched, etc, and this light doesn't bother at all, and practically functions as a mood light in tandem with growing your plants. 9/10For reference, I also own1 Phlizon 1500 watt (Blurple LED) - 7.0/10-Works well enough. Blurple is not too pleasant, can burn at close distance to plants. Good coverage.3 Aglex 2000 Watt COB LED (Blurple and COB) - 8.5/10-Excellent coverage and penetration. A more pleasant blurple color with the cobs including a lot of white. Can turn off blurple and use only cob led - more customization and control. This is my go-to plant for growing in a grow tent. Powerful and still quiet. It's more 'industrial' than my other lights.5 HI-Grow 600 watt (White LED) - 8/10-Love these little things for supplemental light, and even just for other uses like a workshop light if nothing else is nearby. It's my go-to for odds and ends. Cost is right, white light is pleasant, and it's lighter than other units. These things get a little louder as time passes - might be due for a cleaning.1 TOPLANET 75 watt (Blue/White LED) - 6/10 *should be way lower to due to fire hazard - but I make it work. This thing gets hot. Like, burn-your-fingers-when-touching hot. Dangerously hot. But I really like it. It is small, light-weight, and can be used at close distances to plants/seedlings for long periods of time - but KEEP A FAN ON IT. I have a few fans running in this tent, but i built one dedicated to constantly cooling the back of this unit and circulating air because it is truly unsafe in my opinion. It absolutely works, but it shouldn't be needed. This thing was just so useful for seedlings, etc that I kept it around.

Great product and affordable
Quiet operation and great light penetration. I've bought two of these and they have produced some great yields for me and dense flower. I had some issues with my light as you can see by the pictures but customer service were great and shipped me out a replacement unit. Even with my small issue (Remember: these things can happen but it dosen't mean the product or brand is garbage, things break), I still love this brand name, and to be honest I'm looking to purchase another light by ViparSpectra. The Pro Series P2500. Who knows maybe I'll get a sponsorship đ

Great little LED - but is an LED always the best choice?
The good - Durable - Slammed into a concrete basement wall and I hooked it back up and it has run for two years since then. The Bad - the weight - make sure you have the ceiling or setup to handle the weight. The Ugly - This applies to all LED's, not just this one, from this company; if you live in a cold climate or grow in a room where you need to supplement with heat, LED's are not the best choice.I was having to run a 1500W heater and it could barely keep the room in the low 70's. One day I looked at the heater and was like "Oh F***". I went to the local hydro store and bought a 400W HPS. Now I had double the light and the heat I needed to keep the room 80-85 degrees, using 1100W/h less power. So sure if you live in Arizona or grow in a warm/hot room LED's may make sense - google search myths about LED's. When picking your lights make sure you consider all the inputs and the total cost to get your room where you need it to be, the cost the run your lights is only one element/cost. In my case the LED made little sense when I was having to run the heater, while in Florida LED's may be the best choice as you could save money on AC and ventilation.Last, I looked at high end LED's and DIY. If you are considering something high end, DIY is a better option, imo. But consider you could buy 10 of these lights for the cost on one high end LED. At a foot to two-foot spread between the lights I would suspect would give you better results than one $$$LED.
