I must say that I was taken by surprise by this tea.
I am still relatively new to drinking straight loose-leaf teas, and I admit that I don't scrutinize them that much when rating them because I just don't have a lot to compare them to right now. If I like it and would order it again, I'll give it 5 stars. Take that for what it's worth. Having said that, I must say that I was taken by surprise by this tea. It was unique compared to other teas I have tried, both in taste and in viscosity. It was vegetal and floral, with a thickness to it that I had not experienced before when drinking tea. I have heard teas described as "thick" before, but this is the first tea I have ever had with which I experienced that thickness myself. I could even see the "legs" (to borrow a wine drinkers term) of this tea on the side of the glass vessel I brewed in. Despite the "thickness" of the tea, it was also very light, with a delicate flavor--more vegetal than floral, I think.I enjoyed this tea and would buy it again. All of the teas I have purchased from Teavivre have been very good, but the other teas I have purchased from them were bought directly from their store. I chose Amazon for this tea because it offered 2-Day Shipping and I was eager to try it. Buying from Teavivre directly and through Amazon have both been good experiences. The Teavivre web site is probably my preferred way to order their tea because of the wide selection and the many options for sampling a wide variety of teas. I will certainly be buying from them again, likely at both places, depending on my needs.

Decent white tea
Would not recommend brewing in any other way than the gongfu style. First cup is extraordinary. Biggest upside is the consistency of the experience; you order this tea, you know what you're getting, every time.

Teavivre is an excellent seller of Teas
I've buying teas from Teavivre for many years but due to issues within China, the company was unable to ship directly to me. I figure I would buy the Organic White Peony (Bai MuDan) from Amazon. Same tea and package as before when I ordered from Teavivre. The peony tea is well balance, slightly sweet and has a honey aftertaste. Remember, there is no shelf life for this tea, the taste enhances with age (taking about years). Thus, I use to buy until recently, the same tea that was harvest back in 2014. Same tea but different taste. I wish Amazon would sell Teavivre's Silver Needle White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen), another excellent tea.

First White Tea User. Set the bar high
A bit skeptical at first, especially buying tea online. However after spending a lot of time online, I found this company to have a great reputation! It’s a bit pricey but for quality it is very good! I am no tea expert, but I have wanted to try white tea for its health properties as well as taste. The tea comes out very well, light looking, and has a wonderful floral smell. Will buy again.

Poor quality and taste. See pics, NOT leaf tips
White peony tea is the best white tea, and it's the very first buds of the leaves when they haven’t yet unfurled. They’re pale light silvery green with a little peach fuzz. They’re not unfurled at all so they won’t look like dried leaves, they’re more of a small bean shape bud. This tea is a lower quality and not as nice a flavor peony. Meaning they’re picking leaves a little further down the plant, where the leaves have already unfurled, and the flavor will have changed to plain white tea. It’s simply not as delicately aromatic and with that lovely peony tea flavor, which you’re PAYING for. It’s very frustrating since it’s not returnable. Look at my picture.. on the left is a different Penny white tea, on the right is this stuff. Clearly different. (The one on the left was the last in the tin so it has more broken bits in it…good white peony will only be those fuzzy silver green needles.).

Delicious!
This tea is delicious. Don’t be dumb like me however and assume it has no caffeine and drink tumblers full of it multiple times a day. It definitely has caffeine ....

Pricy as White Peony but worthy the price
Don’t quite remember how many levels they made for white peony tea in China, but this one is definitely closer to best level because it’s very close to the flavor of silver needle, except a little more green. If it’s organic certified, which can’t tell if it’s true, the price is actually correct, although white peony usually falls to lower price range. Hope this brand can maintain the quality

Lacking flavor complexity
Just not that impressive. I recently bought a 1lb bag of similar white peony tea from Rishi and was just blown away by how much more flavorful it is compared to this tea. It made me think twice about some of the other teas I've tried from Teavivre and wonder if those are up to the real standards that they could be. If you like boring flavored tea this might be for you. Otherwise try something else.
