Crisp Clean Glow that will make people stare!!
The media could not be loaded. Arrival:I received this kit in a timely fashion, it was delivered on time (2-days with prime membership). It came nicely packed in an amazon box with sufficient packaging air bags which ensured safe travels. Kit itself came in its own retail box that had two separate boxes inside where all the components were separated. One box had the lights, remotes, batteries, receiver. While the other box had all the extension cables, zip ties, light mount brackets.Installation:This kit offers two way of installation it can be set up to plug straight into a cigarette litter or it can be hard wired into a fuse box for a hidden cord clean look. I first tested all the LED strips using the cigarette rout to ensure that everything worked before I spent my time installing everything. I drive a 2001 Ford Windstar (Minivan) I installed two of the strips up front under the steering wheel control housing, and under the glove box housing. Each LED strip has an adhesive strip on the back to allow for easy installation however I live in North Dakota and when I received my kit I was excited to install it and at the time our high for the day was a whopping -10 F. Im sure I could have used the adhesive back and been just fine, but i wanted to play it safe just in case it was to cold so i used the included zip ties and mounting brackets to install my lights and it work flawlessly. Depending on how well they stay installed if I have to I can go back when it warms up and install them using the adhesive strips if i please. I installed the last two strips under my driver and passenger seat in the back of my van and they look amazing. As I mentioned this kit includes a fuse splicing wire that allows you to connect the kit straight into the vehicle that will allow it to turn on and off with your vehicle. I tried to connect mine using the fuse panel but i was not have much luck at the time. After trying a couple different fuse location with no luck I quit trying due to the fact as i mentioned it was -10F up here in North Dakota. When it warms up I do plan to try and hook it up to my fuse panel when I'm able to last more than 5 minutes outside with out having to go in and warm up my hands. So i have it installed using the cigarette lighter with all my cords and head unit ran behind my stereo so its still fairly clean looking. Also when it warms up later this spring or summer I plan to run all of my cord under my carpet I did the same thing when I installed my sub-woofers ( two 12" subs) and it is fairly easy if you have the time.Remotes:Two remotes were included in the kit one remove is about the size of a credit card that has all of the colors on it and easy to switch between each one, along with the setting to either breath through all of the colors or use the music setting to all the colors to beat to the tune of the song. the second remote is a keychain style that has four buttons on it one turns it on and off, the second one adjusts the brightness of the light, the third controls what color is being displayed, and the fourth switches between color mode, breath mode, and color mode. The mini screwdriver that came with to put the battery in the remote was a bit too small, i used my own screwdriver that i had which was a little bigger and made it much easier to get the tiny screws out and back in.The Quality:The quality of these lights are amazing, lit comes with everything you need to install it yourself. The lights are crisp and clean and offer a stunning glow. I nice feature is that you can control the overall brightness of the lights so they don't distract you when driving down the highway.Summary:These lights are awesome and met my expectation all the way. I've only had them for a few days and everyone who has seen them has asked me where I got them and were amazed with how easy and clean they looked. This OPT7 kit definitely make your vehicle stand out from the rest just be prepared for people to ask you questions about them because your vehicle will be the talk of the group.

If my next car doesn't have ambient lighting, I'm getting it again!
The media could not be loaded. I bought these for the footwells in my 2007 Honda Accord.Installation was a breeze - I opted for the fuse tap option instead of the cig lighter plug, running the cables underneath plastic trim panels and mounting the LED strips so you can't see them or their cables. "stealth", as some would say... My hope was to install the kit in such a way that someone whose never been in a 07' Accord before might either not notice the ambient lighting or simply think "hmm... who would have think that would be a stock option on a 9 year old car...". That is, of course, only applicable if you're not using strobe mode...LED strips: the strips themselves are well put-together, and of a good quality. The adhesive backing is superb. I would buy these again for other projects if they just have the strips available for sale...LED strip extensions: The extension cables provided by OPT7 are plenty long enough to mount the strips pretty much wherever you want, and that includes the extra length needed to fish them under plastic trim panels to get there. Use some of the zip ties they provide to secure the cables so they don't rattle around, and to secure the extra cabling you're probably going to have left over from the lines leading to the front footwells.Light quality: the light is a nice even ambient light - exactly what I wanted. The brightness adjustability is nice for cruising on an empty highway since you can tone it down.Door-assist feature: the idea of this feature is that the LED controller has a second power line that goes to something that turns on with the door courtesy lights. The LED strips turn on *white* with the doors open! This is pretty cool, and certainly a welcomed feature. However, it turns out that the main power line has to be on to power the LED strips for it to work. In other words, if your fuse tap or cigarette lighter turns on with the ignition, the door-assist feature won't work unless the ignition is on - the second power line is just a sensor and won't power the strips on.*THAT BEING SAID*, if you really want the door-assist white light to come on with the doors even if the ignition power is off, you could make a little harness with some relays (I may do this myself).I ended up fishing the second power line up above the headliner to wire it directly to the dome light - this makes the door-assist turn the LED's white when the dome is on whether the doors are open or you manually turned the dome on (useful for disabling the feature if you're at a drive-in?) You can see the effect of this in the video I'm including in this review.Remote controls: This kit actually comes with two (2) *different* remote controls. One is a controller with something like 24 buttons on it that gives you full control over the LED's color, fading, strobe, etc... The other controller is a 4-button "quick remote" that gives you ready access to the most common features like ON/OFF, brightness, color, and sound-mode. The 4-button remote is perfect to use without having to look down at the remote if you're on the road.Sound-activated: For when you want your car to be a rave, beating the photons out with the beat of your "sweet jams". It's a neat feature, but I don't use it much because its too "strobe-y" for my taste. If you plan on using this feature, you want to make sure you mount the controller either near a speaker or mounted to the same panel as a speaker, and that's just so you can tweak the sensitivity so its activated by the beat of the music and not the beat of the poorly maintained side roads in your New England town.... There are instructions on their website to adjust the sensitivity of the unit, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.Overall, this is an excellent kit for adding a nice "premium" feature to your older or base-model car. Installation is easy, the hardware is of a good quality, and if you're not sure if you want ambient lighting $45 is a great deal to try it out!
