Perfect compliment to Robocall blocking services
The problem with spam call blocking services is that they typically require your telephone to ring once, at which point the Caller ID information is delivered, before they can act to block calls. In my household, that means that we experience many single-ring calls every day. This particular device acts to block the first ring, effectively silencing all of those spam calls permanently. The device took less than a minute to install, and it works perfectly. Kudos to the manufacturer for providing an effective, low-cost solution!

It does work...however
It suppresses Caller ID. Caller ID needs the 'first ring' to obtain the number. I disconnedted it.

Works with Nomorobo on Landline-review by Simon"s dad
We've been using Nomorobo on our landline for years, but that first ring on intercepted calls had been maddening. This device stops the first ring on all calls, including those intercepted. We do, however, get a few single rings that I cannot explain; their frequency is certainly down by 90%.The one time that I set my fax machine to receive (actually a 4 in 1 Canon laser printer), the fax was not received and the machine displayed an error message. When I removed the FRS22100, the fax was received. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about fax problems, but buyers might want to be aware of this potential issue. Fax transmission, which I have done several times, has not been an issue. All in all the FRS22100, combined with Nomorobo, has made our home much quieter. If only someone could figure out how to block calls from spoofed numbers, we'd be really happy.

Swallows CallerID
Works as advertised, but what you may not know is that CallerID info is somehow contained in that 1st ring - so your phone that is downstream from this device will no longer show CallerID.I still use it, and am glad to have it but, personally, I'd pay 3 or 4x more for something that copied that CalkerID info into the second ring.

This is a great buy. It finally provides me with peace and quiet. I have been using Nomorobo for a while now. Although the robo-call blocking service works great, I would still get an annoying single ring each time a robo-call was blocked. No more. This little device removed the single ring! Installed the device in 5 seconds. Just plugged in line with my cordless base phone. The small blue LED turns on each time the device blocks the first ring. So if Nomorobo blocks a call I dont get any ring! Regular calls just go through as normal and the caller ID shows on my phone.

1 year wonder
Ring suppressor worked great for just over a year (390 days) and now always registers as a short. Not what I expected after paying $35 for it.

Works with NOMOROBO but blocks caller ID--helpful partial workaround, though
This device does indeed block the first ring, so with NOMOROBO service, the phone is silent when a spam call is blocked. However, when using this device with my particular setup, which is VOIP through Spectrum cable, using an Arris phone modem and a Vtech cordless multi-phone system, the caller ID does not show up on the phones. I also tried a similar Panasonic phone system, and got the same result. It is unfortunate, since the device does work to block the first ring, but unfortunately, at least for the Arris modem, that first ring apparently contains the caller ID information. So, when the phone does ring, it is either a spam call that NOMOROBO has failed to block (we get several a day), or a legitimate call--but with the suppressor installed, you can't see a caller ID to help you make that determination.HOWEVER, I was able to partially mitigate this problem with my Spectrum VOIP setup. I activated the "VIP Ring" feature for known legitimate phone numbers, such as those of friends and family--you can program up to 30 of those (the instructions for the ring suppressor say not to do this, but it worked OK for me). This filtering is done at the Spectrum server before being sent to our phone modem, so it is not affected by the suppressor device. Now, when the phone rings, we either hear a double ring, meaning one of our VIP callers, or a regular ring, which is probably a spam call.
