Buy Alpha Fry's 60/40 solder but not this!
I have been using Alpha Fry's 60/40 solder for years and have loved it. This 40/60 solder was on sale so I thought I would try it out. That was a big mistake! I work with small electronics and this solder is very thick and does not want to stick to my soldering iron very well. It produces a ton of fumes and I would not recommend using it at all without a fume extractor directly next to or above your soldering surface. You burn through this solder extremely fast and most of it turns into fumes and you can't even use it. I would HIGHLY recommend Alpha Fry 60/40 solder but do not recommend this solder at all.

You won't be disappointed.
I bought this along with a soldering tool kit for my engineering classes in college, and it has not let me down. It is very easy to take off the solder and apply it to wherever you need to put it. I have been using it for about a year, and I still haven't run out of it yet. Just a warning, it is on the thick side though so that it will not be the best for extremely precise soldering work.

Great use for large solder jobs.
I usually use the small thin strands, but I purchased this for larger jobs and it works well with my portable butane soldering kit (ECG J-700). I do a lot of electrical jobs on my car and I like clean wiring, not the use of end caps, twist caps, and barrel crimps as these items will work loose after a while. Soldering provides for solid connectivity and a clean look with heat shrink tubes.

I probably just don't know how to buy the right kind of solder but this stuff is pretty brittle and makes for weak solder joints on small electronics. I recommend getting something with a higher lead content despite the health risks for more durable (softer but less brittle) solder joints for wiring and antennas that might see some movement and abuse.

Alphy Fry 31406 Solder
A good solder for large connections. May be too large in diameter for circuit boards. I used solder to make connections on a drill battery pack and it worked great. Will buy again when I run out again.

Electrical Solder
Bought this larger pack so it would last longer. It's a good solder for electrical and really gives an abundant supply in each application.I have been using this this a lot of jobs and still have plenty of solder left. It flows very easily especially if your prep the surfaces.

Solder
If you are doing electric project this is a requirement to have. However this was a bit bigger than I wanted my solder to be I will know for next time what I need.

Hot Stuff
Was looking for 60/40, but ordered these by accident. Either way they work well and are great for tinning. The 40/60 have a much higher melting point than the 60/40 so you will need to turn up your iron, but they make a very strong bond with the rosin.
