He started the Missing Manual series to provide excellent guides with a dose of fun and humor. The tagline is "The book that should have been in the box." That is so true. If you want to know how to master the device, this book is it. Skip the sample, just buy the book you won't be disappointed. Even long time iOS veterans like me will always find things you didn't know and news you can use. The high standards are maintained in this edition. A must have guide. Review: Glad I Found The Missing Manual - Very extensive, detailed, and helpful. This covers more than everything you'd want to know about the iPhone 5 and 6 (I got it for the 6). The lay-out is clear and effective, with illustrations, diagrams, and writing that is solid and to the point. I've found something I needed to know on virtually every page. While there are sections that are less useful than others, I refer to the book any time I need to know something I can't figure out -- and often just pick it up when I want to discover something for the heck of it. It's easy to follow and while the style is somewhat light, the information is packed tight and highly educational. The author finds virtually nothing to dislike about the iPhone, but that doesn't bother me. When I want to know stuff - this is the book that helps me out the quickest and with the greatest detail and clarity.

Pretty much all you need to know about iPhones
This book is full of a lot of good tips and tricks regarding the iPhone, up to date, and relatively easy to read. It is also a good companion book to the manual you can download from Apple. It is somewhat bulky and heavy for this type of book, so I'd recommend for many to buy the ebook or kindle version when considering buying it. The publishers might consider writing the book on lighter weight paper on their next update.

Excellent resource
Must give to Mr. David Pogue this time around, this book delivers just about a complete explanation of the IPhone 6 Plus. Long time ago, around 2009 when I purchased an iPhone 3, I also purchased a David Pogue book about the IPhone. For some reason, or another, I did not like the way it was written, but of course I was able to learn much more from buying it, but I was not necessarily impressed. This book is so much better, right to the point, with dozens of tips, and a thorough explanation of what this IPhone is capable of doing. They are a thing of wonder, and there is just so much information that otherwise, perhaps would be overlooked, but thanks to this book, one feels at the end of their training, very familiar with this exceptional product from Apple. It seems his writing has gotten more to the point, and even though his great sense of humor is noticeable through the pages, the book is very well constructed and informative. This one I have to give 4.5 Stars.

Everything Apple should have told you and didn't
I have always found Apple products non-intuitive to use and any instructions they deign to provide are equally opaque. (I am also older than dirt, if that has anything to do with it, and remember when electronics came with fat paper manuals that you did not have to buy separately.) Pogue was a great computer columnist for the NY Times, and this book displays the same clarity and authority as his columns. It is well organized and can either be read through for a complete course in iPhonery or used as a reference for specific topics. I use it when I get stuck trying to do something on my new 6Plus that would seem to be simple. But I also read it to discover new ways to use and have fun with the thing. I have had several phones, both smart and dumb, and -- because of this book -- this is the first one I'm actually using as more than a mobile phone and an alarm clock.

IPhone: the missing manual
I love David Pogue, who has a great sense of humor and whose writing shows that! There is just way too much information in this VERY HEAVY book, and I really couldn't care less about a lot of it. Good text for anyone who really wants to dissect what all the iPhone can do, just not for me.

Own an iPhone 6? You Need this Mannual to Get the Most Out of it.
I didn't use a lot of the functions in my iPhone 5. Mostly because I didn't know they existed. This is thorough, comprehensive and way better than Apple's user guide. Plus it lets you access a website with updates. Oh, and it is easy to follow and understand and is humorous in parts. It's a little intimidating when you first look through it, but I went through it systematically over several evenings. I found out what the new features were. What I wanted to use and what I wanted to turn off in the settings: Do I need all of the apps to run in the background or continuously update? Turn those functions off to maximize the battery life. How to avoid much of the tracking and the notifications. Turn them off. (WHY does the Maps app want access to my contacts list?) And so forth. There are in-depth chapters on the camera and video functions. Video messaging, apps, synching with your computer, iTunes, the cloud, music the web, Siri, pretty much everything you want to know to use this phone to it fullest potential. I highly recommend this book. I prefer the printed version so I can refer to it as I use the phone.

The Missing Manual is teaching me everything I need and ...
The Missing Manual is teaching me everything I need and want to know about my iPhone 6. I can't believe all the capabilities of this phone. The book makes it a pleasure to learn about all the functions. It is written with humor and precision. Sometimes the book's index directs me to the wrong pages but most of the time it is accurate.

Yet another 'Missing Manual' book, this one concerning the Apple iPhone. This is the very latest edition for the iPhone 6 and 6+ and the iOS 8.1 operating system. In common with the other 'Missing Manual' books, this one is an authoritative and highly detailed, technical, reference book. In terms of clarity and writing style, it rivals the excellent Que series of technical books which has published its own iPhone 6/6+ manual. I have both. Highly recommended.
