is this oil suitable for use in an old kerosene lamp?

If it has a flat wick bigger than 1/2" do not use paraffin oil in your kerosene lampParaffin Oil in the UNITED STATES is Liquid Candle Wax , and is mis-labeled for use in oil lamps and lanterns, when in fact it is only suited for Candle Oil Lamps that use small diameter (under 1/4",) round wick. 99% or 100% Paraffin Oil is NOT designed or suitable for use in tubular lanterns or oil lamps that use flat wick, or Kosmos or Matador type oil lamps. Further, it burns only 1/2 as bright of any of the approved fuels listed above. Paraffin oil has a much higher viscosity and a flash point of 200 degrees or higher, as compared to the flash point of 150 degrees for kerosene. These differences inhibit the necessary capillary action of the wick, and will cause Lamps and Lanterns with 7/8" or larger wick to burn improperly and erratic. Once a wick is contaminated with paraffin oil, it must be replaced in order for the lantern to burner properly. If you must use paraffin oil, it may be mixed 1:10 to 2:10 (one to two parts paraffin,) to ten parts standard lamp oil or kerosene so that it will burn satisfactorily. Paraffin Oil is sold in the United States under the following trade names, which should be avoided except for use with lamps or lanterns with 1/4" Round of 1/2" flat or smaller wick"

Is this oil non toxic?

It depends. If you are going to use it in your oil lamps then, well, it's sootless, smokeless, and odorless. If you are going to use it in your cakes or cookies - well, yes, it's toxic and harmful or fatal if swallowed.

Will this oil work with fiberglass wicks?

One of my wicks is fiberglass and it is fine. Hope this helps. Sheila

Can this be used with an antique pedestal style oil lamp or will it crack the glass?

That is what I am using it for. Have never had a problem with my lamp cracking.

It's exactly what it says it is.

I bought this oil for a small indoor oil lamp, and it worked very well, but the flame was quite intense so had to move the lamp outside to serve as decor. Not sure if that is a fuel or a wick problem, but either way this worked.

Excellent lamp oil at a great orice

We use this lamp oil in our emergency oil lamps. Our home is in the mountains, surrounded by National Forest. The power goes out with some frequency, so we depend on oil lamps scattered around the house. This us our favorite lamp oil as it burns clean, and doesn't smoke or have a bad smell when burning. A large bottle was priced much better than at the hardware store chain, so I stocked up. I mix the blue color with the clear to add a little color interest to the clear glass lamps.
