Lathers well!
I’ve used this body bar soap 3 times so far and will say it lathers well, I use with a loofa. The scent is pleasant and not strong at all. Since it is winter I was worried about it drying out my skin but I’ve not noticed that at all! I regularly use lotion anyway. I don’t feel itchy during the day like I sometimes do with my Caress body wash. Overall I’m pleasantly happy with the bar and on my way to reducing our plastic use.

Open carefully!!!
Got the orange vanilla scent and was very excited to smell it because of all the good reviews, so I gave it the open and sniff immediately after receiving it, which was a very bad idea. I didn't notice it was covered in white powder that expelled out of the box upon opening the flap. I experienced a lovely burning sensation in my nose as I inhaled the tiny particles, and coughed and sneezed for the next 30 minutes... it does smell quite nice. Just try to contain yourself longer than I did and rinse it first. Also is too big and does not fit in the Ethique In-Shower Self Draining soap container. I guess that's just for their shampoos and conditioners.

Excellent product, bad packaging
I've purchased Ethique's body wash bars twice before this third purchase. I can only say good things about these bars that last for a long time, smell really well, haven't left my sensitive skin dry, and--most importantly for me--are sustainable and vegan. However, this most recent purchase came in the Amazon package that wasn't recyclable and had stickers on the bars. This really irked me considering he reason why I even buy from Ethique is because I love the quality of the products (at least the one's I've used) and because they are very sustainable in their products and their packaging.I could very well look for any other vegan body wash that comes in a plastic tube but I buy from Ethique so I don't have to deal with that. Ideally, there would be Ethique products that were locally sold in US markets (maybe even produced here) so I do understand that it's not going to be perfectly sustainable but at the very least I could compromise with the recyclable packaging that I had received in my prior purchases and without the stickers on the bars.I would give this a lower rating if it weren't for the fact that the product really is just that good for me and I do ultimately really like Ethique but I hope that they manage to return to making the packaging fit the values of the product their selling or even make it more sustainable than before if possible. I should note that this is likely more of an issue with Pharmapacks than it is with Ethique, however.

Lovely product & ditching my old soap
No plastic packaging!I’ve never used this brand before. It’s super moisturizing without feeling oily or leaving left over residue on your skin; left feeling super soft & hydrated. I have an issue with oily & dry skin, and it instantly makes me feel softer & moisturized. I’m shocked! The scent is lovely & reminds me of orange creamsicle but I noticed when I lather/use the soap it doesn’t really smell like anything & I don’t smell like “orange vanilla” after the shower. Which isn’t a bad thing, I guess I’m used to body washes that leave you smelling like the selected scent. But I’ve never felt more clean so I’ll take clean over being self scented lol

Review is for both pumice and Charcoal, Kaolin & Oatmeal bars.
Update again: the smell actually dissipated in a more normal manner with my second purchase of the spearmint tea tree pumice bar! It took a little under a week but this time the smell did fade away making this bar much more tolerable.Update pumice, tea tree and spearmint:it takes about two weeks for the smell to go down. I bought another one and it had the same extremely overpowering smell. I’m choosing to get past the smell because in my opinion this bar exfoliates really well and is more affordable then the body polish bars. My skin has never been extremely dry from this bar either. I do still wish it was a tad more hydrating though.Original review for pumice, tea tree and spearmint:this body wash bar is very exfoliating. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. This bar doesn’t make your skin feel as hydrated as I would like either. I am not sensitive to smells and the smell of this bar was very overwhelming. I got a headache quickly after opening my package. I LOVE this company’s shampoo bars but this tea tree, spearmint and pumice body wash bar did not wow me like their shampoo bars have. I left the bar out for a couple of days and the smell isn’t dissipating. My bathroom reeks of spearmint. I do really like how exfoliating this bar is but I don’t think this bar is for everyone. The bar would be good for anyone looking for heavy exfoliation. I have some stretch marks and scars and wanted the heavy exfoliating! I was not a huge fan of the body polish bar because if you were to use it frequently you would have to buy it once every two weeks. That being said their body polish bar is amazing. This bar does have a lot of potential. It’s much more affordable and exfoliates better in my opinion than the body polish bar. I would be more “wow-d” by this bar like I am most of their products if it were more hydrating and didn’t have the overwhelming pepto-Bismol smell that gave me a headache. It could be a great product! I hope they just change the scent, up the hydrating properties slightly and leave the rest the same! I do not think it will currently be a good match for most people. It may be a good idea to label bars per how exfoliating they are because I would hate for this bar to be someone’s first impression of a really great company with amazing products. I’m still giving it three stars because it’s a great alternative to the body polish bar and if you can get past the smell and don’t mind using moisturizer after showering and want a HEAVY exfoliant this bar is probably a good choice for you. I’m hoping I just got a weird batch and the smell is not supposed to be this strong lol. I’m not sensitive to scents at all and this bar was very very overscented like someone just knocked over the whole scent bottle into one small batch or something lol. I’ve never gotten a headache from smells Before this lol. I mean this thing was intense 😂 you could smell it in my whole house after I opened the box lol. Life happens and I’d honestly give this bar another chance if no other pumice body was bar is released. Perhaps I’m just not used to their products not exceeding my expectations? 🤷🏻♀️Charcoal, Kaolin & Oatmeal:There is no smell to this bar at all. I prefer smell personally but I got this for my kiddos and partner who have more sensitive skin. If you’re sensitive to this scents, this is the bar for you! The bar works well and leaves your skin soft. This is the second ethique body wash bar I’ve tried and mine and my kids skin wasn’t dry after use but it wasn’t well hydrated either. It was right in the middle of dry vrs hydrated. I do think they have room for improvement in their body wash bars hydrating proprieties. It may just be what happens when you use natural ingredients in a body wash? My skin wasn’t completely dry after use so I’m still giving this bar five stars. Overall, I like this bar and will be buying it again.

Body wash bar is 5/5, amazon packaging is 1/5
This bar is great, I love Ethique bars and will never buy another bottled shampoo or body wash again. This bar is larger than some other Ethique bars I've ordered, and has a very nice, but very mild scent. But Amazon needs to get their act together. Exactly as other reviews have said, it came in a bunch of plastic packaging. Like really, does a bar of body wash need 6 plastic air bubble containers to protect it? I think not. Amazon needs to start having something you can check off in your profile that ops for eco-friendly packaging. Total fail on Amazons part, and frustrating since Amazon is Ethiques primary source for shipping these.
