Scattered Minds: The Origins and Healing of Attention Deficit Disorder Paperback – 3 Jan. 2019

Deeply moving and beautifully written. Must read for anybody who feels they (or their offspring) are “different” or who have journeyed through life being treated as strange / peculiar by friends, family or colleagues. There is a long waiting list for ADHD diagnosis in the UK which is unfortunate. This book is a revelation and it sheds a compassionate light on this condition.

Excellent book, really well written and filled with understanding. 100% recommend to anyone who has ADHD or think they might do, but also it would help alot of people who were brought up in traumatising homes. The corner of mine came a bit bent, but I was so desperate to read it, I didn't want to return it and wait for a new one.

If you have a child, or you are an adult, who thinks they have ADHD, then take a deep breath and read this book. It's hard to confront the fact you may have parented quite wrongly, but it's better to face this and work out how you can change things for the better, even with a teen or adult child. This is a sophisticated read on ADHD, characterising it as both genetic, producing 'sensitive children', who then don't quite make the developmental leaps needed to help with their particular type of brain. It suggests how you can help them make that leap, or encourage it in yourself. I've been a bit dismissive of Gabor Mate's work at times (the Prince Harry interview, for example) but this is his first book and a classic.

Great book. Lots of interesting insights and information. Would have given it 5 stars only the paper felt thin and the print was really small and light. Think they may be trying to save money on paper and ink. I would have paid more money for better quality paper and printing as it was difficult to read at night.

Gabor explained detailed and confidentialy about add in high level of professional work.I found myself in the book despite English isn't my mother language. It wasn't difficult to identify myself in a different occasion throughout the journey.

Many tears shed whilst reading this thought-provoking book. Beautifully written from the heart combined with his decades of experience.

This is one of the best book I have ever read. It had a profound impact on the understanding I have about myself, my child and my parenting style.I thank Dr. Gabor Mate for writing this book, it truly helped me a lot.
