Terrific Thrower for the Price
This thing is great. As others indicated, the directions are a mess. The only reason that matters is the initial connection of the axis. Use the washers to level it, look at the picture on the box, and you will figure it out. As far as the upper portion/moving parts, it is incredibly simple. With good directions, it would take five minutes. With none, it may take you twenty. As far as operation, it is great. Not sure what others are claiming when a 250# person cannot press down the pedal. It takes maybe 30# of force to launch. Hard to say, but basically if it is not launching or spongy, tighten the chain on the right. Once that is configured, which only takes a few launches to figure out, there are no issues. It is nice to use the force with your leg rather than your arm. Just to see if the solo angle (this was apparently marketed as a device for you to throw and shoot contemporaneously) was anything other than insane, we each shot two sets of five where we launched and then shot the clays. It is actually workable, although much more advisable to have one person launching and the other shooting. The different launch angles are adjusted by a large screw/wingnut that takes about twenty seconds to change. The way force is applied, it digs in and becomes more stable as your session progresses. You do not need any anchors. There is no breakdown of the unit other than taking it apart altogether. If it has to fit in your trunk you need about eighteen inches or so. This thing overperformed big time. For the money it is a steal.

Easy to operate. Highly recommended!
I have a list of my best investments ever. Now this product is on this list too. solid construction, easy and safe to operate. Now can shoot trap by myself all day. It came in just a few parts and it was super easy to assemble. Took me about 20 minutes. The steel construction is solid. There's almost no flex in the entire structure when it launches clay targets. you do have to stick the pointy ends into the dirt otherwise it will move quite a bit. Loading the target is super easy. When you don't step on the pedal, the machine is not under spring tension. Only when you step on it, it loads up the spring and releases at the end of the foot stroke. The machine easily throws singles and doubles. I've only had it for less than a week and have already gone through over 300 targets in singles and doubles. The machine did not break a single target. each one of them flew far and nice. One thing I guess I had to get used to was that the pedal takes quite some force to step down. When I wasn't used to the machine, I kinda lose balance at the end of the stroke so it messed up my aiming a little. but I quickly got a hang of it. Now it's easier than ever. Overall, highly highly recommended for anyone who practices trap on a regular basis.

A great trap for the money
This product is well made, and it works far better than the $32 Winchester trap I bought at Walmart, which was unbelievably flimsy and was returned to the store immediately. As others have said, the assembly instructions are terrible, and one would think that the company would read these reviews and fix that problem. But it was not hard to assemble, thanks to the photo on the box and comments on this website. Even on the lightest tension setting, this will throw clays almost 50 yards. The "step" lever that you stand on with one foot does wobble a couple of inches from side to side when it is in the highest position, so you have to step down firmly and without hesitation. If you try to step down slowly, your foot will wobble all over the place. But that is a minor point. This is fantastic for a single person wanting some shooting entertainment, and it works far better than jerking on a rope to trigger other types of traps I have seen. I don't think you can get much better shotgun entertainment for this price. I have not tried shooting doubles yet, but this trap theoretically can throw two clays side by side according to the owner's manual if you crank up the tension on the launch spring and lower the angle of the arm so that the back clay does not slide off the arm. (There is a clay holding lever, but it is only big enough to hold one clay.) You also can stack one clay on top of the other, although I tried that once quickly just for fun and it resulted in two wobbly clays that did not spin very well or go very far. Depending on where you place the clay on the launch arm, you can get launches in sometimes unexpectedly different directions. But with some practice and making sure I always placed the clay exactly in the same spot on the arm, I have been able to throw clays pretty much in the direction I want them to go, and if I miss the clay with my shot and it lands on grass, the clays seldom break and are reusable. All in all, this is highly recommended. The only thing better than this would be a self-loading electronic trap that can launch a large stack of clays at set intervals, but you are talking big money for something like that.

Excellent value and build quality for casual shooters.
Excellent value for those casual shooters looking for a budget thrower that is over built compared to others in this price range. Easy to assemble especially when watching the companies instructions on YouTube. Easy to operate, easy to reset, and has a good amount of elevation adjustment. My only complaint would be that it held and threw doubles a bit tighter and further, and that it had longer legs so it could be pushed deeper into the ground for a sturdier platform without sacrificing elevation when launching. My son is an excellent clay shooter but he’s not serious enough for me to shell out the big bucks on an automatic thrower. Until that changes this one will do the job. I would definitely recommend and would buy again.

Like it!
Decided this year to start shooting clays we have a local public range and my wife and I thought it would be something fun to do together. Bought a Remington 870 and a hand thrower and headed on down to give it a try first gun I ever owned and had never really shot because I'm a fisherman at heart. First time out of 75 rounds I only hit 2 targets wife and I really had problems throwing the targets with the hand thrower! Chalked it up to inexperience headed down the next weekend same thing only hit 2 targets out of 75 rounds now getting discouraged and thinking maybe this isn't for me and I wasted my money buying the gun! Fortunately that day at the station next to us were 2 guys using the Trius step thrower and they got talking to use about it. Long story short they showed us how to use it so we decided to buy one. It was easy to assemble and off to the range we went. That day shot 100 rounds and hit over 50 percent of the targets so now doing a lot better this is fun! Once you learn how to use it it throws clays really consistent and makes your shooting experience much more fun. There is a trick to stepping on the release pedal stand over the thrower and use constant pressure don't jab at it. Also it does jump around if not mounted to a tire but we don't have it mounted so we just deal with it. Does not break clays throwing unless you have the clay not flush against the throwing bar. Only reason I gave it four stars for accuracy is that I've had issues throwing doubles. It says you can throw side by side or stacked doubles but the side by side can only be thrown at the lower 2 of the height settings and one of the clays always seems to break. Stacked doubles you will not have the breakage problem so I stay with the stacked clays. Now with lots of clays thrown with it I'm shooting in the 80% range of breaking clays and couldn't be happier! Great product and we plan on buying another for my daughter for Christmas. Enjoy!

Thsi is a great trap!
I bought this One Step Trius trap along with another Trius hand-cocked version that blows. The One Step turned out to be a great, easy to use, easy to adjust and super durable. My One Step has maybe 45 hours on it, and continues to work perfectly with occasional adjustments. My friend who suffers with Parkinson's disease uses my One Step to throw 100 clay's for me a couple times a week, and loves it. It's simple to cock and you needn't be the incredible hulk to tension the spring. Easy to adjust for height, right-left direction and throws double easily. Let me tell you, this Trius One Step is the one to buy if your a casual clay bird shooter, and whom ever you get to run the trap will thank you!

Excellent for shooting clays while camping
Quality materials, decent directions and works fantastic! The design amplifies body weight (or leg power) to launch the clays so the arm is never under high tension during cocking or while cocked. Very safe of you have kids or dogs (or idiot friends) with you. We have used this over several trips now and launched 3 or 4 boxes of clays from it with no signs of wearing our or getting loose. Great product.
