This is a lovely and nifty little tool for laying out accurate dovetail joints. It allows scribing of dovetails at four ratios: 1:5 and 1:6 for softwood, and 1:8 and 1:10 for hardwood. Very solidly made from CNC machined aluminum. My only complaint about the product is that the instructions are vague with respect to which faces of the guide are where. Once you “get it,” things are fine. The “external” faces are 1:5 for softwood and 1:8 for hardwood, and the “interior” faces are 1:6 for softwood and 1:10 for hardwood. I have found that the exterior faces are a bit easier to use.

So far so good, makes accurate layout for the saw cut….✏️📐🪚

Handy little marker; Great for setting proper angles repeatedly. Well machined, with notched 1/32" depth increments. Can't beat the $14 USD price!

Great product! Its well made and looks supprisinly durable. My only gripe is that its hard to see my layout marks (I typically lay out my dovetails on the top of my workpiece). A small notch in the red block would make this a perfect tool for dovetails!

This gauge is so well made it survived Amazon's packaging and shipping. These are packaged in a hang tag card with a plastic bubble like many things. When Amazon shipped this they dropped it into a bubble pack bag. When I saw the bag on my front step all beat up I thought it was going to be a return, but inside the dovetail gauge was intact! Now that's well made.This is a very well made gauge that is a pleasure to use.
