Pro-Ject DAC Box S2 Plus Digital to Analog Converter - Black

Great little DAC. I have it hooked up to my micro computer and it feeds to the amp box S2. Great little system with tons of volume and sound for my desktop. Much clearer sound than the typical DAC that comes with a computer. No volume control or remote as the computer controls it all.

The sound is not impressive for the price of this DAC. The cheapest Shiit DAC does a better sound for a bit over a hundred. Also, the filters button was rubbing against the metal and not switching from the one pressing. Too much money for not much quaility.

In addition to sound stage separation improvements, there is improvements to lower level DB sound tracks. Instruments you could not hear before, NOW, appear on the stage. Q recordings (Sting, Dire Straights, Abdul, Madonna) all have additional improvements to the 270 stage presentation. Excellent investment if you have a CD collection.

I have had it now for close to two years.Nice sounding dac but my new Modi 3 sounds just as good and was 150 bucks less.I still gave it 5 stars though.Maybe in my old age I no longer have golden ears cause I heard no difference in sound listening to the same songs through my headphones swapping out the dacs.Still,it's a fine sounding dac.Maybe others can hear finer details using it compared to me.Not long after I wrote this review the dac does not work anymore.All the lights come on but no output.I did not leave it plugged into an outlet and babied it.Pro-ject gets no more of my money.

Purchased this from my local sound shop. Connected to my MacBook Pro so that I could enjoy the hi fidelity sounds of lossless audio files. The difference vs Bluetooth will knock your socks off. Crisp, clear and bold sound. Warm where it’s necessary and the different ranges are noticeably fluid. Worth every penny.
