ProCom MD5TPA Dual Propane/Natural Gas Vent-free Infrared Radiant Wall Heater

Bought this heater in November of last year, it's been in service about three months. Several times when the heater goes to light it makes a noise that sounds like an explosion, followed by air blowing, only three of the five plates heat up, and the room starts to smell of gas. This will continue until you shut the heater down and start it back up again. It will work fine for a week or two, and then the explosion, wind and smell again. I'm afraid to leave the heater on for fear it will burn down our house. I talked to ProCom and their "warranty" was for us to have a technician come out and inspect the unit to find out what part is defective. ProCom will send us the defective part and that's as far as their warranty goes. Basically the heater comes with NO warranty!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HEATER!!! If I could give this heater negative stars I would!!

This heater is very good for what I needed. I heat my home mostly with a wood stove that is located on the far end of our house from our upstairs bedroom on a 55 foot long home. The wood stove is also downstairs and I had to make some modifications to our home so the heat would get upstairs too. When the mercury drops into the 20's and below our bedroom can get a bit chilly in the middle of the night when the stove gets low on wood. To keep from having to get up in the middle of the night to reload the woodstove I use this heater upstairs on the far end of the house to keep the temp in the 60's in that zone. Works like a champ and we never wake up to a frozen home. Does pretty good on gas and keeps us nice and cozy on those frigid nights in CT.
