Perfect toy, very good starter instrument.
Very good for the price as a kid toy. Well built and can last a long time. I was going to take one star off for the following but changed my mind. This is a toy and a very good one. If you want a serious instrument then you probably will be paying at least a hundred dollars more. It probably doesn't matter that it is very difficult to tune. This is most likely because of the neck is a little weak and tuning pegs are designed with economy in mind. If you just want a toy, this is perfect. If you want to see if your child is interested in music as a starter instrument, this is a very good choice. Why buy an expensive guitar that is not going to get used.

Nice sound, sturdy, and overall surprisingly good
If you treat this guitar like a musical instrument, with care, it's very enjoyable. If you let the kids use it like a toy, it gets beaten up and will eventually break, one way or another. It's that simple. And no miracle manufacturer will come along who presents an instrument to you that is sturdy like a playground ladder, sounds like an angel's harp, and costs as much as a cd, all at the same time. After it has been tuned a couple of times, the strings hold their keys pretty well. What kills this model (or any guitar I guess) is if the strings are pulling so hard on the bridge that it gets loose. I saw this on an older model that I bought used and had to throw away. So be very careful when tuning. Use a smartphone app like gstrings for it. I'm really glad to have found this low cost, sturdy guitar that won't upset me IF it breaks.

Nice kids guitar, but doesn't stay tuned
My kiddo wanted a guitar and this one was recommended on the interwebs. Good price so Santa got him one. Sounds ok and is small enough that he can handle it easily. The only thing is, it can't hold a tune. You set it and a few strums later it's out of tune again. I took it to a local music shop and they were able to replace a couple of parts so now it mostly stays tuned, but is easier to fix. If you can afford it, I'd go for a pricier 'real' guitar, but this is an ok starter if you like tuning a lot.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE!
I ordered this guitar for my 4 year old granddaughter, not for a toy, but because she expressed a sincere interest to learn to play. I play guitar so I know a little about it. I searched the internet for the best and found this one which is the perfect size for her. I got the guitar with nylon strings so they would be softer on her little fingers. I read a review about the strings breaking and not staying in tune.......but you have to understand that if you start out tuning too high, the strings will be too tight, so tune it a little on the loose side. Also, guitar strings stretch, especially nylon, and you will need to re-tune a few times (this goes for any guitar). I didn't have any strings to break and after a couple of days they stayed in tune. This guitar is durable, has a great sound, and perfect for a little superstar to learn to play. She loves it!

Better than I expected
I got this for my son on his 2nd birthday. He is in love with my wife's acoustic and kept trying to drag it around with him when he saw it. I decided that I wanted to get him his own guitar that he could drag around. Good: The fake wood look is pretty good, it fools most people until they touch it. It comes with extra strings, which is nice. The stickers for the different strings seem useful. My son isn't quite old enough to understand the individual strings yet, but this is a nice touch. The guitar CAN be tuned, but it doesn't stay tuned for long. It drives my wife crazy (since she plays), but I don't really mind (I spent a decade playing the trombone, but never touched a guitar). It may or may not be a big deal, depending on what you're using it for. It feels pretty solid and has stood up to some torture so far. The ways that toddler plays with anything is pretty extreme. The size is great for my son. He is a little big for a 2 year old, so I imagine that a 3 or 4 year old might really enjoy this thing. He likes to play it like a stand up bass most of the time. Bad: The tuning of the guitar sucks. Like I said above, this could be good or bad. I didn't expect to much, but I just think it is worth mentioning. I wish it came with nylon strings, instead of steel. Again, nothing really bad, just something I would have liked. The smile on my son's face alone makes this purchase worth it. He really loves this thing and it is the first toy he looks for in the morning.

Unplayable. Will not even tune to itself. Frets out of measurement.
Sometimes, you DON'T get what you pay for. First of all, I've been playing guitar for over 20 years. Also, I fully understood that a $25 guitar isn't going to play or sound like a Martin. But this guitar simply won't tune. Tuning the strings with an actual tuner to E, A, G, B, D, E was successful...until I tried to play a chord. PAINFULLY out of tune. Checking the tuning between strings (5th fret of the top/first string to open 2nd string, for example), showed a difference of well over half a step between strings. I can't teach a kid to play on something like that; they'd never even know if they were doing it right, because every chord sounds AWFUL. I also tried this with two different tuners, which both worked great on my other guitar immediately afterward. Also, the strings fall out of tune as soon as the strings are even lightly strummed. I get that it's small, plastic, and not broken in, but you literally couldn't make it through half a song without having to stop and retune (not that it matters when it won't tune in the first place). Trash. So much, that this will literally be a toy for my 3-year-old if I don't just throw it away first. Save your money, and go to a guitar shop (or spend more money on something better here on Amazon). (on a side note, it looks nice enough, and seems the right size for a 6-year-old...)

My six year old granddaughter loves it
The guitar arrived in three days! Great surprise. The appearance is a little different than an older model of the same guitar. First I thought this guitar was made of plastic because of the dark stain and lack of shine. It seems to play fine. I do not know about guitars and i am completely out of tune, so I can't comment about the quality of the guitar as a musical instrument. That said, it seems good enough for kids to test, and a guitar teacher who teaches kids seems to be ok using these type of guitars. My granddaughter had her first guitar lesson. She was delighted. Came back home to serenade us with her new learned skill. In sum, I have bought 2 of these guitars for two girls 4 an 6 year old. Perfect size. Can't beat the price. I would recommend at anyone.

Great quality, buy this over the cartoon theme ones
You know those Disney or cartoon theme cheap guitars in stores? This is nothing like them and it's the same price or cheaper. This is a great quality solid first guitar. It requires constant tuning, but that's because it's being lugged around by a 5yo. It comes with some learning music and the keys (knobs at the top of the neck) are color coded. Really pleased with this toy purchase online. If you're looking for a first guitar that isn't crappy, this one is great. PS I (my kid has) have owned a crappy cartoon one and, never again!!
