Dell E228WFP 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor 22", 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, 800:1 Contrast Ratio

I have three monitors run by a Triple Head to Go from Matrox. One of the screens went down and I turned to Dell. They don't make the monitor any longer. I went to Amazon, 5 people had them for sale. I took the five star rating and ordered the monitor at a reasonable price. Two days later it arrived, packaged perfectly. I opened the box, hooked it up and back in business instantly. I am a prime member and basically don't shop anywhere else - Amazon has it all!

The Monitor has a loud bussing sound. Most likely that is why they got rid of it. Not sure how long it will last. I will cross my fingers. They did not test this one.

My current system had DVI outputs for two FP LCDs but I had originally only purchased one. After using the original for two years I finally decided to update to a dual monitor system. The monitor I purchased matched my first monitor and I am loving having two matching screens. For those not using two monitors give it a try!!!

Came with a different stand but the different one was better because it allows the monitor to swivel around (pivot), screen can flip to portrait mode, and it can adjust up and down. DVI and AVG inputs

This LCD monitor is easy to set up and works out of the box. Colors and brightness look reasonable. On the face of things there should be no complaints .... but ...The monitor display is very sensitive to the video mode used and does not always display different resolutions in the way you would expect. As I work with photographs I can not accept distortion in the displayed image and all available options with my 2-year old Dell notebook lead to distortion. It seems that one has to use a video mode with a pixel aspect ratio of exactly 16:10. Of the modes I have been able to test so far:1280 x 800 (aspect ratio 1.6) - uses full screen no distortion1450 x 1050 (1.38) - uses full screen some distortion1280 x 1024 (1.25) - uses full screen bad distortion1280 x 768 (1.67) - uses part of screen ridiculous level of distortion1024 x 768 (1.33) - uses full screen some distortion800 x 600 (1.33) - uses full screen some distortionI think that this is poor design as I use other LCD monitors that are more tolerant of different video modes. But I am even more concerned that none of the Dell information on this monitor indicates how it handles different video modes or gives any hint of the above problem. And as if that were not bad enough it seems to be impossible to find out whether graphics cards in new Dell computers will support the 1680 x 1050 native (optimal) resolution for this monitor. Why won't the industry provide detailed specifications of electronic items any more and whatever happened to compatibility as a design goal?Bottom line - don't buy this monitor unless you intend to use it ONLY with 1280 x 800 and 1680 x 1050 display modes.

I've just received my monitor, last week. I love it! I had been using a 19in. monitor, this one is just so much bigger and the color is great. Set up was easy. I use it for games, music and basic internet. And I couldn't ask for a better monitor.
