I've been using the beautiful glass Soma water filter for more than 5 years, but purchased this skinnier plastic jug version so that I could fit it in the fridge. On first use, the taste was pure chemicals, I assumed there was a contaminant in the filter, and so I opened another filter, but with the same chemical results. I contacted Soma thinking there must be a bad batch of filters, but they just told me I was not prepping the filter correctly. They had no interest in taking back the filter and jug to investigate. Instead It was left to me. I took the bad tasting filter, and placed it in my glass Soma water jug, and the chemical smell and flavor was not present. The plastic jug was emitting the chemical taste and odor into the water, not the filter. Soma seemed unaware of this issue, perhaps it was a freshly manufactured jug and off gassing from the manufacturing process. I left it alone for 3 weeks, and eventually the chemical taste and odor disappeared. So be patient, it's a well designed jug that filters water rapidly and fits in the door of the fridge, but please don't waste your time with Soma support. Soma filters do produce nice tasting water, however the customer service leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

The water through this filter is undrinkable. I have a Brita but I bought this as it looked nice for my kitchen. I have tried running water through it daily to see if it improves but it tastes awful like really strong chemicals. I would like to return it or get some help but there is no information on how to do that on Amazon.

I bought this in May this year, mainly because it looks so good. However, big problem already with discolouration/mould around the rim that simply cannot be cleaned off so I’ll be replacing it with one from Tesco’s that doesn’t go mouldy and use the jug in my greenhouse. Pity, as it looks so chic.

What are these black dots in my water? my water is clean from the tap but has chlorine and other things which aren't healthy so I use Soma to clean them

Looks great and fits in fridge door however I just can’t use it despite trying and trying! Not fit for purpose, water just drips down the sides when you pour meaning it can only be used over the sink! Not practical!

Water filter is aesthetically pleasing, however, it's useless. The spout itself does not even open, did not wish to force it so had to send it back. Was so looking forward to getting it but very disappointed that it does not do basics like allow pouring of actual water.

So happy with this water jug. Makes my water taste so much better and it’s also very athletically pleasing

Really perplexing why SOMA would design the carafe with such thin glass because it breaks so easily. The style is nice and honestly the volume needs to be doubled, but they could do with increasing the durability of the materials. I am willing to pay for the style but not worth it if the carafe only lasts me a couple months. Will not be replacing the second one I have bought.

Arrive in time and in good condition

I shopped pretty hard for a filter pitcher with the Soma 6 cup as my choice - I am quite satisfied after using it a while. SIZE was important to me. Many are so big and I wanted one mostly to filter for my coffee-maker such I don't need huge capacity and at six cups this has a perfect footprint on my counter - not overwhelming. The white, clear design is aesthetically pleasing and makes it looks "small" on the counter as well. A SECURE lid was important to me as other brands I've had would leak, come off, were flimsy. The Soma lid and spout are secure. Handle is awesome - so easy and solid to hang on to. The fill system is via a round opening in the top which works way better than I expected. It has some type of gravity feed where the round cover self closes when you fill to the limit to preclude over-fill and spill. The whole picture is really nicely designed and works great for me.

Really nice and simple water filter and pitcher.... I dont love a plastic world but this is PBA-free and just nice, light and easy to use. I usually recomment to people to hold the jug higher than you think you should and it will pour beautifully and without spills... plus it looks fancier.
