All-Metal! Well-Made!! Securely Fastened!!!
Fantastic addition to a mic stand! • sturdy (no jiggling) • well-made (all metal) • extremely handy I didn’t intentionally set out to purchase one of these, but after adding a Gatorworks mic stand to my cart, this accessory came up in the “customers also purchased” section. So thank you fellow Amazonians for also purchasing one of these! SIZE: I went with the 9” x 9” size for two main reasons: 1.) convenient size capable of holding all those little playing essentials like capos, picks, etc, but could also still be used to hold things like an iPad for lyrics or watching instructional videos or using a looper app, or for holding a couple of pedals I like to frequently adjust. STURDINESS: 2.) Sturdiness. I felt smaller was better as I didn’t want it getting in the way whenever I had a big acoustic guitar in front of me, but also because of the worry-free peace of mind you get when something is securely fastened, doesn’t wobble or jiggle, and doesn’t leave you wondering if the weight of it (and whatever it holds) is going to cause to Great of imbalance to a mic stand, or worse... come crashing down, potentially ruining valuable pedals or devices, etc. QUALITY: Though plastic would’ve been lighter, this things feels very well made as the only plastic I can find on it is the twist lever on the tightening clamp. The only shortcoming I can see is the fact the clamp itself is entirely metal. Would’ve been nice if they would’ve added some sort of rubber coating or padding to the inside of the clamp so as not to scratch or damage whatever it’s clamped to, but... easy enough fix. I simply cut up a small piece of black rubber (used for lining the bottom of toolboxes) just to protect my mic stand.

Strong well made .
Excellent quality steel with a very good connection . Holds on to the stand perfectly without scratching for people like myself with more expensive microphone stands. I use it in my vocal booth to hold my faderport DAW controller so I'm able to record vocals without having to leave the booth. I have a small 2nd monitor hanging in front of me in the booth. Works out great. I'm gonna get a 2nd one to hold a beer or 3 while I'm tracking. This thing will hold a 6 pack no problem. I also have their monitor desktop stands which are phenomenal . That's why I bought this because I was really impressed with the quality of those stands. Price is the only one in it range for both that I saw. You are not compromising any quality with their low prices.

Solid tray and better than expected
This review is for the 9x9 utility shelf. I needed something to hold an approximately 5 or 6 pound tube headphone amp on an e-drum kit. This was one of the few options with a clamp that opens wide enough for a drum rack post (Simmons SD1200, in this case). Getting this shelf clamped on a pole in the 1-1/2" neighborhood is no problem. I was balking at the price of this shelf while shopping because it seemed like a pretty flimsy looking item, but actually the quality exceeds my expectations: the shelf isn't wobbly or flimsy, it is welded to a stout enough frame bar, and the clamp and bolt are thicker than I expected. The clamp bolt has a much appreciated rubber pad to help grip while preventing denting whatever you're clamping to, and the clamp handle is easy to hold onto and use. Most cheaper trays of this size seemed to only really be for mic stands, but I'm glad I spent the extra bucks for a tray that can mount to thicker poles and have a sturdy enough feel. It's perfect for my needs. I recommend this version.

Can fit a number of things, but not for everyone.
TL;DR sturdy and will fit accessories for most instruments, but some flimsy plastic components in the clamp knock off a star. I’m going to break this review into two sections - construction and capacity. 1) Construction: The plate and clamp are solid, sturdy metal, which is a rarity in this day and age, and doesn’t go unappreciated. Only complaints are the nubs on the clamp, which are flimsy plastic, and likely have limited longevity. Fortunately it’s only two, easily replaceable parts, and when they go it won’t mean the end of the product’s lifespan. 2) Capacity: The plate will fit accessories for woodwind and modern instrument players, but brass players may struggle, depending on what music is called for. As a Horn player, I can fit most everything I would ever need - rotor oil, linkage oil, straight and stopping mutes, slide gel, a pencil, earplugs, spare strings and my buzz pipe all fit (albeit snuggly). Trumpet players may struggle if the piece calls for more than two types of mutes, and trombonists will probably only be able to fit one mute and accessories.

Best tray, super heavy duty
I can’t rave enough about this tray!! I’ve used it for a ton of gigs and it is so sturdy. It can withstand a lot of weight and is very well made - though since it's such a heavy duty metal, it adds weight to the mic stand which can make it lean over a bit.

Yeah, it is versatile. I put it to use in an unusual way.
I had to replace the pull-out keyboard try on my old office desk. The old tray had room for a mouse. The new one has a little tray that slides out from the tray but it's really not big enough. Then I bought a mouse tray that came directly from China. Really flimsy and fell apart. But then I discovered these trays that clamp to a mic stand. Now, I do have a nice camera tripod stand, and this tray clamps nicely to it, and it's stable. So now I have a large mouse tray. How cool is that? I may put a kind of mousepad-type surface on it, but it's really not necessary. Works fine without it.

Unless you have some nuclear-powered laptop from 1991 (red and black screen Toshiba) that weighs more than a German Shepherd, this will hold any laptop. It is strong and sturdy with good construction. You can see the welds are well done, it's steel and well manufactured. The mechanism to attach to a tripod, mic-stand or pole is well made as well - though there is no flexibility or ability to shift the unit once attached (which is fine, as they don't claim that you can in the description). I use this to old a laptop under a camera on a tripod and it works perfectly.
