Great alternative to a heating pad!
I do castor oil packs on a regular basis, which require a source of (1-2hours) heat. I also often fall asleep during the process because the heat relaxes me so much. I didn't like the idea of falling asleep with a heating pad on, and I have enough electronics in my life - I'd like to get away from them sometimes. This hot water bottle has been an ideal replacement for the heating pad! First of all, it's much bigger, thicker, and heavier than I had assumed it would be. The bottle covers my entire torso and then some. Secondly, the material is much heavier and durable than I though it would be - it seems like it'll last a long, long time and not disintegrate after repeated use. I also haven't detected any freakish plastic smell - always a bonus :) And because the material is heavy and pretty durable, it stays warm for a long period of time. The fish are a nice temperature gauge - they are only supposed to change colour when the water is too HOT and the cap, when securely fastened doesn't leak.Be aware though - whether or not the water is "too hot" or not, the bottle becomes HOT - it's probably a good idea to wrap the bottle in a cloth or pillow case before applying it to the skin. It's a great product, definitely worth the price!

a big disappointment.
Don't get me wrong, this hot water bottle does it's job. My poor review has to do with those adorable misleading fishes!I bought mine a year ago, and spent extra money on a hot water bottle in hopes of something more aesthetically fun and pretty. When i received mine in the mail, the fish were white. They have NEVER CHANGED COLOURS! Despite the pictures of bright, beautiful, purple-y fish, my hot water bottle contains white fish no matter what temperature water i put inside.Suffice to say, i was gravely disappointed. And now, after a year of usage, the water bottle itself has discolored to a nasty yellowish colour [i believe my tap water in my new home is too hard, and may be the culprit.] and you can rarely tell that there are even fish inside.

Clever clear design with a clever floating fish. Hard and inflexible compared to traditional water bottles though.
The quality seems fine for the price. We like the clear design and the floating fish as does our 3 year old. But...it is kind of small compared to your mom or grandmother's traditional water bottles. Well actually it's only a hair smaller by dimension but the problem is that it is not made of rubber but of a harder plastic and thus is not very flexible, does not expand to a larger size (like a balloon) like traditional bottles do and most problematic is that as a result it is not comfortable. It is not comfortable because it is made of hard plastic which does NOT conform to your body/head/neck or wherever you need it. I would not buy it again because I prefer flexibility and comfort over how neat it looks. If they made it of a more flexible/comfortable material like traditional water bottled, I would buy it again as the see through design with the floating fish is neat and not nearly as boring as the old red or green water bottles. If don't need it to conform to your head or neck or ankle or knee but rather you just need it flat on your back or stomach or just to hold for warmth, it is fine. The quality for what it is, is fine. It is not a problem of quality build, just a problem of comfort and flexibility for certain uses.

Fish do not change color
Here's the deal. I needed a hot water bottle for some aches and pains. I wanted something a little cute, so I went with the fishes. Many people say different things. Here's my experience: My fish are pink, but do NOT change to white if it gets too hot. Whatever, too hot is not an issue, I'll use a towel until it cools down. The bottle will not leak. I was a bit worried about it since I use it in bed, and wet memory foam = bad. I don't need to worry. It also holds the heat for a remarkably long time.I would recommend, just know that the color will not change.

I love how this has the floaty fish inside
I love how this has the floaty fish inside. And that it is clear. The floaty fish give you an indication if you have the water too hot that can damage the bottle. If the fish are lightened some it's almost too hot, but when the fish are solid white it is too hot. Also, you can easily tell when you need to get a new one because you can see through the bottle and see when it's nasty inside. Filled with water calcium or lime deposits, dirty well water staining, etc. I recommend changing after 12 months of use. This is also great because it is made of safe plastic. My Mom hates the strong smell of the rubber bottles. This bottle does not have a strong odor when it is new. And for those who can't come in contact with latex, this is also great because it's latex free. The fish are also fun to float around and play with if you are a kid. ;)

Winter Essential
When I bought the hot water bottle, I was looking for something easy, reliable, and most of all, good at dispensing heat. Online reviews made it sound like Fashy was the brand to beat, with high-grade silicone that would stand up to the constant heat. This one, with the floating fish, was too adorable to pass up! It looks like a plastic baggie of goldfish I won in a state fair. But beyond its aesthetics, it is surpassingly useful. I fill it up every night with water as hot as I can stand, cap it up - it never spills, even holding it upside down - and stuff it under my sheets. I go about my nightly routine, and by the time I get into bed, it's got my sheets all toasty and warm. I leave it there overnight, and frequently end up burrowing my feet against it to keep them warm.
