Pelican i1010 iPod Case (Black)

Giving it the full 5 stars for protection. It protects and fits! I ordered this case for full protection of my 160gb iPod Classic. Don't ask me what generation it is. I purchased it in 2007 or 2008 when the 160gb first became available. I have always kept my iPod wrapped in a cloth in a small leather pouch in my backpack (which I always carry to work and on travel) and have by the grace of God it has not been damaged. I recently saw how valuable the iPod Classic 160Gb have become and decided on this case for protection. Too many reviews say that they cannot connect their headphones and close the case. Those reviews are incorrect. The rubber insert is slanted from the top to the bottom. This gives the iPod classic 160 just enough room to have the headphone adapter to be connected and close. Yes it is a very close fit but needless to say it fits. There is also enough room for my SHURE ear buds (and charging cable in the space underneath the iPod if wrapped properly). Don't let the bad reviews from people who try to make this fit in some way it is not designed persuade your decision about this case. This is Amazon and I have never had any issues with returns, so give it a try if you like me have a valuable iPod you wish to protect. It protects! No you cannot control it without being open.

I use the case for my ipod classic 6th generation. The ipod does not sit very well in the case but it doesn't move when closed so I overlooked it. Also the clip that comes with the case does not hold well and after less than 1 month of having the case it doesnt stay closed. Since I do not use the clip much it isn't a big deal but for some it may be.

I bought this because my son has one however he would not share it with me.I use it to protect my Ipod nano when I am in the steam room at the gym pluswhen we are traveling and hikeing. It offers great protection at a good price,compared to having to replace your Ipod if you drop it on the rocks or in a river.I have dropped this case several times, on the ground, pavement, rocks andin the water, never damaged my Ipod.

This is a review of the i1010 case by Pelican, for the iPod.Dimensions are listed as 4.4 x 1.7 x 2.9 inches, which are approximately (but not exactly) the interior dimensions, and not at all the exterior dimensions. The Amazon listing for the i1015 case shows the exterior dimensions. So, there is no consistency of measurements between these 2 cases by Pelican, and that may confuse you as it did me.The iPod Classic does not fit well. It will fit, but when you connect the headphone cable provided, the lid won't close correctly. You can force it, but you have to wonder, why didn't they make it an 1/8 of an inch larger, so it would fit perfectly ? So you can store your iPod Classic just fine, but if you want to connect the cord, it will require jamming the cover shut. Not sure if this will void the waterproofness. And the reason to buy this case is to have your iPod connected while in the case - for use during Burning Man, boating or other dusty / wet activities.The actual dimensions of the box are as follows :Exterior : 4 inches wide x 5-3/4 inches high x 2 inches thick (this includes hinge and attachment loops)Interior : 2-7/6 inches wide x 4-1/4 inches high x variable depth (to accomodate iPod Nano and Shuffle, I believe)I noticed in the description for the i1010 it does not say "for iPod Classic", and in the description for the i1015 it does say "for iPod Classic". So maybe I should have read more carefully.The reason I give it 3 stars is for misleading info and for not making it 1/8 of an inch larger, in which case everything would be hunky dory.UPDATE : Got the i1015 case and it is perfect for the iPod Classic. Sent back the i1010.

My Ipod would not fit into this case. I had an older model that worked for a long time until the wire developed a short. The new model must have been modified to fix this problem. The older model wire is a smaller diameter and the head is smaller as well. The newer model with the bigger wire and head make it impossible to properly close the box with the Ipod attached. I gave it two stars because the returned it with no problem and even paid the shipping.

despite the fact that pelican and amazon vehemently advertise ipod classic compatibility, this isn't the case at all. as numerous other reviews have said, don't buy this if you have an ipod classic - otherwise you might have a really expensive and useless box on your hands. you can sit your classic in there, but the external headphone jack (kinda one of the main features) is unusable. total loss of faith in both pelican and amazon. there was no point in advertising compatibility where there was none.

Solid as a tank and offers excellent protection and the blue is so pretty. Unfortunately it was much bigger than I expected and I had to return it, but if you don't mind the bigger size and weight it will definitely keep your ipod safe!!

if you have good playlists this is fantastic. if you want to pick songs while out on the boat forget it. My I-pod drooped off boat pulling in a vn bass, and wasn't hurt by water in this case. ps be sure to add xtra flotation if using it. I added a key flotation device and was enough to recover it.
