It takes a nice hit!
We got this for our daughter not because of martial arts, but because of volleyball. It was a good practice tool to learn how to hit a volleyball solid with strong contact. It's made pretty good, and worth the price!

Maybe not the best buy if your kids plan on being annoying
These are great for kicks and punches. They are soft, durable and worth the buy. If your kids plan on using them for everything other than training in tao kwon do I'd avise against it. When they slap them together they make a loud smacking sound which automatically causes yelling to get them to stop. Buy at your own risk!

perfect for practice at home
my 6 year old just started tae kwon do and wanted something that would allow her to practice her kicking at home - these are perfect for her and were a very affordable option.
