Good Start to a Promising Comic
I bought this book based on the positive reviews it was receiving.Firstly, the writing of the book is good and original. The stories are compelling and you want to keep reading. There is a decent amount of depth to be read into the stories. I have to say the writing style of the comic, and the way certain new elements are presented, remind me of the T.V. show Pushing Daises. It even has the same type of playfulness and humor at times. Layman manages to capture multiple voices very easily and creates a unique feel to each character.Secondly, the art is very well suited to the book. It has a playful aspect to it which makes the book have a different tone than many other indie comics coming out. Good movement and backgrounds.Thirdly, the book itself is amazing. Larger than a normal comic. Nice hard cover and thick pages. Extremely great presentation. String bound not glued.Lastly, the reason I took one star off is simply it did not blow me away, and although there is still room to expand this book into a 5 star read, it will need some work to get all the way there. Some nice plot points are set up in the first ten issues collected here I cannot wait for the next one of these Omnivore editions to come out.

Chew for the Win
First time reading a graphic novel, seen a lot of recommends for this one so I thought about trying it out and I must Say....I have Became a big fan already for the work. The art, the story breakdown, and character build. One con though, the book came scratchy as if it’s been passed down numerous of times but other than that good read!

Original Flavor
Chew is original, exciting and dynamic. It is definitely not a comic you buy for your 8 year old nephew, but its much funnier than it is offensive. This edgy comic will keep you up laughing, and honestly you won't be able to put it down if you are anything like me (the gross moments are more over the top and interesting than they are disgusting). On the quality of the book itself: definitely go for the omnivore edition over the paperback. The book will last much longer (this is going to be one you reread). Image comics does a great job making quality hardback books. My "Invincible" ultimate collection books have been borrowed and reread so many times and don't show any sign of wear to the binding. This book is worth having in hard back, especially if you want to start making a decent comic book library for yourself. You can never go wrong in investing in quality for an Eisner award winner.

This story is AMAZING. If you love comics like Invincible or any CSI type tale, this IS your jam. So worth the read. (I made a food pun there. I'm a funny guy.)However, it has very few extras at the end, so when you buy this, be aware you are mainly paying for a hardcover version. But this is a solid comic with its own quirky humor mixed with a dark tone. Addicting, and freaking amazing. I will be reading more of this series.but, if you are trying to determine whether or not you want to put down a bit more for the omnivore vs paperback, I do not have the answer you are looking for.

Chew Omnivore Edition is at the top of the food chain
Comic books are full of heroes: superheroes, detectives, gods, goddesses, regular human beings, monsters, aliens, and more. But I think this is a first for the genre: meet Tony Chu: Cibopath. What's a Cibopath? Someone who gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats, meaning he can sense where the item has been and what it has been through. Odd enough for you? Welcome to the world of Chew. I have been meaning to pick this book up, but for some reason I hadn't until recently. Chew has won numerous Eisner Awards, the industry standard for excellence in the comic book genre, and I wanted to see what all the talk was about. Chew Omnivore Edition Volume 1 fired on all cylinders from start to finish. After reading this, I am definitely hungry for more.

A lot to digest, and worth every penny
A friend recommended I try Chew after reading Locke & Key Volume 1: Welcome to Lovecraft HC , Y: The Last Man Vol. 1 - Unmanned and Shade, the Changing Man: The American Scream v. 1 . Her recommendations have never been wrong before and, being a collector of books (and apparently now graphic novels) I went for it and bought the hardcover edition.Purchasing Chew Volume 1: Taster's Choice and Chew Volume 2: International Flavor in paperback is about two thirds of the price of the hardcover, so for not a lot more outlay it makes sense to go for the hardier, and very nicely bound hardcover edition of this set.To complement Amazon's own summary, Chew is the story of cibopath Tony Chu, who gains psychic insight from whatever he consumes (apart from beets). In a world where chickyn (sic) is off the menu due to a bird flu epidemic, he goes from investigating black market poultry to something altogether more interesting.Chew has a great main plot. The characters are quirky and the writing complements them well; I can almost hear the accents in my head when I'm reading. I can see why this is one of the most popular Image comic releases of recent times. The hardcover collects Chew 1 and 2, and includes some neat concept sketches at the end. Great value for money, and well worth the purchase. Read everything
I've read all six volumes, I couldn't get enough of it. Not for those that can not handle dark comedy, and I advice you to google a few images, I did so as well to see if the dark humor worked for me (and it did, that drawing style does wonders for such a fantastic story!).I can only warmly recommend this whole series, it was a pure delight from the beginning until the very end.

IMAGE quality
Amazing in all respects. Add this to The Walking Dead and its clear that IMAGE is a contemporary Marvel Comics. Visually this is stunning and the writing is inspired. Originally planned as 30 issues CHEW has now been expanded to 60 and the plot is positively Machiavellian. Totally unpredictable.Very funny and a number of running jokes. The full page bed scenes that end a number of comics is hilarious.Black market chicken...Cibopaths. Alien plants. Quality.

Wonderful!!
I got most of the trade paperbacks and thought I'd give the hardcover a go, and I wasn't disappointed. Not only do you get a oversized version of chew in a great quality hardcover you also get some cool extra content at the back of the book.My favourite comic series in the best form Image comics is doing everything right the best publisher.

Humorously Dark
Really enjoyed this comic, the art style is fantastic and has a very generous colour palette which is a big plus in my eyes. It is dark yet humorous which keeps the story line from becoming to monotonous. I can heartily recommend Chew, shame I have to wait until next month to by the second Omnivore Edition.
