Perfect Fit / Excellent Hitch
This CURT 13575 Class 3 Trailer Hitch was easy to install and the bolt holes matched perfectly with the manufactures threads on the Mazda CX-9 body. It appears to be of very good quality and very sturdy - It looks like a factory hitch with only the bar around the hitch receiver showing. The rest of the hitch is tucked up under the rear bumper cover making is look like a factory install. I'd recommend this hitch to anyone.

Attractive and perfectly fitting hitch for 2011 CX-9
Perfect fit, took 45 minutes to install on my 2011 CX-9 by myself. This time included jacking it up, removing the spare, putting it back, and jacking it back down. Actual install time about 20 minutes. Once jacked up I laid down, lifted it into place, and set the bolts. Because of the mufflers and heat shields, it has to be lined up vertically (hitch opening pointing down, and rotated into position as it's lifted up. This is why you HAVE TO jack up the car, there isn't enough clearance to do this otherwise. Watch the heat shields, the edges are very sharp. It was a nice tight fit for me, so once it was in place I was able to take one hand off and thread the bolts in. Once I had one bolt in each side, I knew it wasn't going to drop on me. As with anything with multiple bolts, thread each one in only about 1/3. This gives you some wiggle room to make sure they all line up. I used a rubber mallet to adjust it a little to get them all in. Once all are in, tighten finger tight and use a box wrench to torque them down. I used 3/4" and 1/2" wrenches. I didn't bother with a socket wrench. It isn't obvious in the picture, but the crossbar is not square, but flatter, helping it keep a lower profile. It hides very nicely under the bumper, only about 1/3 of the center section extends below. As others have mentioned, packaging was worthless, but this was Curt, not Amazon. It arrived in a Curt retail box which was too thin and the hitch was loose in the box. OK for buying it in a store, but not OK for shipping. It broke through the box, but powder coat was not damaged, so I let it be.

almost perfect.
Able to get it installed by following some of the advice of previous comments. Definitely have to do the tilt "front" to the ground technique. But even after doing this, the hitch still bent the muffler shields. It didn't worry me since it was easy enough to bend back. I was able to complete it by myself in about 45 mins. Able to push it into place, held one side with my leg and screwed in the first bolt onto the other side. After putting the first bolt, I only had to hold up the side without a bolt until I was able to get one in to get at least one bolt in each side. Most of the time was just trying to get the holes to align so I could get the bolts to screw into the frame. Had to use a rubber coated mallet to pound it into place. But even with all of the pounding and adjusting, I couldn't get 1 of the 2 smaller bolts installed ( set came with 6 large bolts 2 smaller bolts and 8 washers). I'll be using the receiver basically for a bike hitch rack and not for pulling any loads, so it should be ok. Just wish I could have gotten all of the bolts on....I might try to drill out or Dremel out the the hole on the receiver later on when I have more time to do it. I found it easier to lower the spare tire out of the way to get more room to use my socket wrench. Tried to use a regular wrench but the muffler heat shields tended to get into the way. The socket wrench made it easier and faster to get the bolts in ..It took less then 7 mins to tighten the bolts once they were set...

Looks great
Fits perfectly on my 2013 Mazda CX9 and all hardware is included. I know there are other reviews about the installation, but I wanted to share my experience since it's still fresh in my mind. I installed this hitch yesterday by myself. I used a floor jack to lift the hitch into place and to support it, although it does not goes straight up unless you remove two heat shields located on each side of the SUV. I didn't remove the heat shield, so I had to insert one side of the hitch first and then play around until I got the second corner to go up. Did lower the spared tire enough to make room for installation, but did not remove it all the way out...it may be easier if the spare is removed though. Took me less than half an hour and that's including applying some anti corrosion paint to the hardware just in case. Anyway, the installation was not difficult at all and once installed, the hitch is almost totally hidden. My SUV is a 2013 Mazda CX9 with only 24K miles, so it looks pretty much new. I didn't want an ugly hitch sticking out from the rear. This hitch looks professionally made and looks great once installed. I recommend it.

Easy to install
I read some of the reviews about this product and decided it was a good buy, even though I prepared myself for having a hard time installing it. Well, there is a trick to install it by yourself without having to remove any original vehicle parts. But to make everything easier, first lower and remove the spare tire. It will give you plenty of room under the car to work the screws. Now here's the trick: don't try to line up the hitch and lift it. It will not go pass the muffler protectors. The key here is to lay the face of the receiver (square hole) on the floor, which means that the sides will be pointing up. Lift the hitch into position and turn it 90 degrees towards the front of the car once you clear the muffler protectors. Install the screws and you're done. By the way, this trick is NOT in the instructions that came with it so I had to learn it by myself. Now, this is heavy so having an extra couple of hands will definitely make your job a lot easier. Other than that, a sturdy, well made product. And as always, Amazon delivered earlier than scheduled. Ten stars: five for the product, five for Amazon.

High quality, perfect fit, no cutting required.
Receiver is nicely constructed, and included fasteners are high quality. I installed this myself on my 2013 Mazda CX-9 in about two hours working slowly. I found that the spare tire had to be removed prior to installing the receiver (providing a good opportunity to check the tire pressure). As stated in some other reviews, the car did not need to be raised off the ground, but the receiver should placed beneath the rear of the car and then rotated 90 degrees, so that the receiver opening faces straight down, and the top of the receiver faces rearward. This will allow the receiver to be raised into position behind and above the exhaust heat shields. Once the receiver mounting brackets are clear of the heat shields, rotate the receiver back to a level position and install the bolts. The spare tire will have to be maneuvered past the hitch receiver during reinstallation, but once in position there is no interference. I found that the Curt hitch receiver fit my 2013 CX-9 perfectly, was relatively simple to install using basic tools, and required no cutting of the rear bumper cover. Very happy with this purchase.

What an ordeal
What an ordeal putting this thing on, I didn't have the fortunte experience of some of the others. Whether poor manufacturing or incredibly poor and damaging delivery service (i'm not sure which is responsible), the left mounting plate on my hitch was severly out of line creating a significant gap between the car and mount making it impossible to install. After 3 trips down to my basement to put the plate in a vice in an attempt to bend it back somewhat into possition, I eventually was able to move it enough that I could get one of the 4 bolts threaded and tightened down eventually pulling the plate flush for the others to thread. Putting the defect aside, the receiver itself is a solid top notch piece of equipment, a direct fit, and would have taken only about 20 minutes to install (rather than 3 hours). I do recomend having the back of the CX-9 up on ramps for clearance if you have them.

somewhat easy (2007 mazda cx-9)
put this product on a cx-9 and after the reviews saw how it could be difficult but have a suggestion for those with a cx-9. Instead of pulling your hair out trying to manuever the reciever around I found the when I took off the drivers side exhaust tip (2 bolts that need PB Blaster and a 14mm socket or wrench and some love :D). the reciever was able to be mounted with no obstructions and fit perfectly into the vehicle. Doing this installation yourself rather than taking it to a dealer will save you in the range of 100-200 bucks depending on how long the person installing it at the deal wants to take. In all the reciever performs as advertised and was relatively easy to put in with a set of ramps and the proper tools: 3/4" socket 7/16" socket ratchet 14mm wrench and socket a decent sized hammer PB Blaster to remove rust and make the exhaust tip nuts come out easier took myself about 1.5 hours to do with some help from the fiance and alot of patience.

Great hitch!
Well built, heavy and solid. Fit like a glove, it was tight on one side, drop the spare tire to make more room.

Fits my car, no modification necessary
Mounted this on my 2014 Mazda CX-9 Fits perfectly, remember to clean out threads on cars frame before fitting it as road dirt collects in the threads, I used some degreaser and a brush

It did not fit
I was sold this for my Mazda cx9 2018 year model from web page. When I took it to the mechanic to have it installed, he told me that it would not fit. It was for other car. Not happy.
