While is it time consuming to just "read" it (which I am doing while marking it up), it contains a lot of "meat" and the sentences are very well done. PROS: 1) The sentences are mostly meaningful, short and concise (which I love), and you will see MANY other interesting words within the sentences. In this example, you will see "rollercoaster" and see that this example word (Komm) is an imperative (command). 116- Komm – Come (Imperative) Lass uns mit der Achterbahn fahren. Komm schon! Let’s ride on the rollercoaster. Come on! 2) Unlike many other foreign language word books, in this book you will see past participles like this one: 747- Gesprochen – Spoken Ich habe mit deinem Vater gesprochen. I have spoken to your father. 3) Nouns are shown with their gender CONS: 1) It is difficult to know which words are inside this book (and which are not) since they are NOT in alphabetic order. So, if you know some German verb you want an example of begins with "V," you have to look at 2000 words to find the one you want, and it may not even be in this book. It would be better to have a list - with clickable links - to EASILY take you to each of the 2000 words in the book. I suggest lists (in German and English) with letters A B C ... X Y Z of words in the book so that you can, for example, just click on "V" to see all the German words beginning with V (ver, verlassen, viel, etc.) There could even be some more lists (all words in alphabetic order, in both German and English and/or by category such as verbs and nouns). 2) The plurals of nouns are not shown and it would be nice to see that. OVERALL: Great reference book for those, like me, learning German! Review: Great learning tool - Super easy to pick up and do a brief or long German lesson. The sample sentences are great to learn the sentence structure. This is my favorite German learning book.

Good way to get comfortable with the language
If you've made it through basic grammar and are starting a vocabulary, but school German did nothing to prepare you for actually USING it, this book is for you. Essential vocabulary words used in sentences that you can use with real humans will get you accustomed to speaking it. The words in this book combined with a good tourist phrasebook will prepare you for a visit to a German-speaking country. DO practice the sentences out loud!

A fun little book, great for intermediate learners
I really love this book. The sentences are short and easy to remember, making it perfect for reinforcing what you've learned. If you've already mastered German grammar, it's especially enjoyable to see cases, prepositions, and adjective endings used naturally in context.

Learning the gender for each noun is important.
This book is an excellent resource for learning German. Unlike some of the other books available, this has the genders for each noun, which are important to learn.

Interesting concept but editing is a huge problem.
This is an interesting method to further my German knowledge. I tried to get the most out of it but was annoyed with ecountering numerous grammatical errors tooany times(!). It's astounding that one can publish a book with so many errors! I gave it a sufficient amount of stars since the book was helpful for what I was looking for but I do not recommend this for the average person. Bottom line, this book has a lot of needed room for improvement.

A great book and one of my best German purchases!
This is an outstanding book in its simplicity. It doesn't provide rules of grammar or sentence structure. It doesn't go through the details of German gender, case, etc. What it does do is to provide two thousand words in sentence contexts. It is up to the user to make something of them. I have been taking each sentence and typing these into Word on my computer. In this way, I have been learning both the sentence structure and grammar, as well as the meaning of the words in that sentence. What this has done is to reinforce the German grammar I have already learned and to provide opportunities to explore options for using different words and sentence order in place of those provided by the author. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who is serious about learning German.

Good for review
Going to Germany next year and this book will let me review the words and remind me thru the sentences so I can speak it again. I forgot some basic words, but was surprised at what I knew/remembered.
