The wood finish is very nice also.I am not sure how other people who have bought these knives treat them but mine arrived sharp and so far they have kept their edge very nicely. I don't think they will require much maintaining either.Great set of knives that feel great in the hand and are easily controllable. A word of caution though, make sure you clean them and dry them as soon as possible. It does say this in the instructions but not everyone reads them. It stops rust spots getting on the knives. Very much worthwhile considering buying a sharpening steel to keep the knives in good condition for use.
