I want to be able to leave them outside for an extended period of time and everything rusts here. Thanks.** A: I've had mine for about 10 years. I live in Central Florida and they've usually been stored outside but sometimes they're under a small overhang or under a canopy. I'd guess they have a total of 5 years of direct sun exposure (that's one leaning on the other). I've cut the tops of them about 20 times so I've been waiting for one to pretty much split in half but they haven't. They're not brittle. One of the best and most used tools I've ever had. **Q: What is the maximum height when extended?** A: 35 inches - just measured with tape measure **Q: What are the yellow Vise or tool holder work or attached to the sawhorse** A: The top (yellow portion) of the saw horses expand (slide out) to accomodate larger pieces of material to be worked on. There are no vises for holding work. In addition, there are two yellow plastic pieces that attach to the slide out pieces to hold pipe or 2 X 4.
