Value for price is excellent
As others mentioned - sizing is bizarre. Luckily there's a popular review that lists a sizing guide and a guide-to-using-the-guide, because none of it makes any sense at all. I'm a 34 waist, recommended size was like 38, and I ordered a 32. Probably could've gone 33-34, but it fits. Belt is definitely leather. Buckle is solid, which is important. Stitching is nice. I prefer a slightly thicker belt, but I'm hoping the longevity reviews are valid here - maybe this is good enough that it'll last with minimal stretch even though it's slightly on the thin side. It's not as thin as a similar-priced walmart/target belt, but it's not as heavy as the Columbia recommended alternative (which is 2-layer, with an inner ribbing of some reinforcement material - and quite sturdy). That said, it's more comfortable than a thicker belt and it doesn't stretch when cinched up. I doubt I'd hang tools off it, but for daily wear it does seem like a great value. The little custom keychain in the package is adorable as well - "handmade with latin american love". Packaging, while it doesn't affect the quality of the belt, was a nice touch - belt came properly rolled and tied up with a leather scrap, along with a quality/manufacturer info card, the keychain, and another maker's-mark-tag. Surprising little personal touch, again above and beyond the price. Honestly - all this said, I'd probably just buy two and rotate them more often. Two is cheaper than any other heavier-weight belt, and it does seem like the quality is above average. 5 stars, for sure.

I like it better than the one in the picture
I just received this belt today. The quality appears to be VERY strong, normal thickness (not thin) and 1 1/2 inches wide. Well made. The belt buckle I got was a smooth chrome or tarnished silver color. Very strong. I like it better than the one in the picture. The two ARE NOT the same. I love the worn out look of the leather. I like it better knowing that it was handmade. A machine can do a lot of things, but obviously not hand made!! I read all the reviews about sizing, which like anyone reading this, I was concerned also. I wear EXACTLY size 32 jeans or cargo pants. The pants are not too tight or too loose. I can fit in a 31 pants, but a little snug for me. So I went with the 34 inch belt. Like they said to go one size up. It was also 19.99 vs. 30.99 dollars. Trying the belt on, the most comfortable notch for me was second to the last. The belt really was not that long with excess. It does not hang down because is made strong, but not real stiff. Just right. I could fit in a 32 like others say, but I would rather have extra holes than not enough. There were a couple bad reviews about stitching. My belt did not have any of those problems. It is REAL leather also. There were too many good reviews that definitely outweighed the bad ones. I love the belt. It is now my everyday belt.

Great look and superb quality leather; order one size smaller
This may be the only brand of belt I buy from now on, I love it so much. The quality and look are both fabulous. My only complaint is that the fit is too big. I ordered my size and the belt wore like it was one or two sizes larger. I confirmed on the belt that it was the size I ordered, so I'll have to order smaller sizes for new belts.

MUST READ ! ! --> Very Comfortable but have to use very last two eyelets for waist size ordered ?
Looks accurately as shown in pic. There are seven eyelets, spaced approximately one inch apart. The waist size I ordered I think is irrelevant to the point which is : who gets a belt they must use the last, or at the very least, the next to last, eyelet to fasten/close the belt ? If I just finished eating generous portions of a hearty meal, still maybe a bit bloated, I would use the 2nd before final eyelet of this belt at the waist size ordered. Otherwise, I have to fasten the belt shut using the very last eyelet. I have the lean angular torso, flat hard abs, trim tennis player body type, and my avg body weight hasn't varied more than 5-10 lbs in 30+ yrs, so it's not like I need 5-6 extra eyelets in case I swell up like a pufferfish and need the extra slack to proudly accomodate my new and progressively expanding girthy paunchy potbelly. That eyelet issue really ticked me off, because other than that red flag, this belt, for a leather product, is soft & pliable and noticeably comfortable from the moment I tried it on the first time. If you've dealt with certain leather works before like belts, shoes, etc you know how common it is for them to be awkwardly stiff until eventually the leather becomes "broken in". So, just on the strength of the feel, how comfortable it is, and very easily slides thru belt loops, still being fair and giving a well deserved 4 STARS. I didn't rate the "Durability" since I haven't owned it long enough for that yet. JUST BE WARY WHAT SIZE YOU ORDER - without the benefit of this review you might find yourself resorting to using the last two eyelets of whichever size you order ! ! !

Not what I thought it would be
This is an ok belt, but not what I thought it would be. First impression upon opening the envelope was "Damn it's small!" After tearing through the numerous layers of tape and plastic in an attempt to get to the canvas bag, I finally get it open to see it's all coiled up. I get it untied and roll it out to a really super soft leather belt. I looks nice, the buckle is really nice, but it apparently runs large? I ordered a 36" assuming it would be two sizes smaller than a previous belt I had ordered in 38", but it's the same size. With it being really soft leather, my concern is it stretching a lot with daily wear hence ordering a smaller belt so I would have a few holes left to use as it stretched and I fluctuate in weight/size from summer to winter (We all eat a lot during the holidays lol). I'll keep it and wear it with snugger fitting pants as It is a really nice belt, just thought the size ran true and was of a stiffer, thicker leather.

Great quality, but the sizing runs large?
Edit: After having purchased two of these, I think I finally figured out the sizing. Take your waist size, add two inches, and pick whatever size has that number in the middle column. These belts are sized so that the belt size is named by its "tightest fit," rather than the "middle fit." I am at a 34" pant size now, and bought a 30" belt. I have to use the largest notch on this belt, which according to the chart is a 36" hole size. If I had bought a size 32", with a "middle fit" of 36 (34+2), I would have had some wiggle room on either side. I wear size 36 pants, and bought the size 36 belt. I have to use the smallest notch to get a snug fit, and will have to punch a hole if I loose any more weight. My understanding is that you normally add two inches to your pant size to get your belt size, and that the belt will have notches on either side of its true size to accommodate for size changes. That means I should have bought a 38" belt, which in this brand would have been way too big for me. Their website seems to suggest that size 32 would be the right one for a 36" waist to hit the middle notch. 4" less than my waist size? I'm not sure what's going on there, but I am otherwise very happy with the quality of the belt.

Belt failure
Purchased 10/2022 for $48. Great belt until the clasp failed. Contacted the manufacturer ( h and d) thinking that with failed clasp they would support their product as they promote this as a durable belt. Their response was they sympathize with problem but are unable to help and suggested I try contacting Amazon! NO real customer support! Very disappointed. Would not purchase anything further from this company Bruce

At least, a real well made leather belt
I usually don't right a review, but this belt is perfect. Ordered on size above mine as recommended, and it's a perfect fit. Well-made and sturdy with genuine leather. Hope to keep it for a long time. I love the Hide&drink brand, they have amazing product.

Great quality.
Great belt. It could use a second loop, but extremely happy none the less.

Genuine Leather, neatly stitched.
Leather is thinner than I expected, but overall it's a well made belt. Treated mine with Mink Oil to add moisture, though it darkens the tone a bit.
