What I should have bought the first time!
I had unwisely bought our church a different lectern microphone. The improvement in bass response when I installed this one was dramatic and good. Note that it requires "Phantom Power" from your mixer to operate. (Most audio mixers have an option for this). Always use it with the supplied foam "pop filter" to avoid distorting "P" and "B" sounds. Shows some "Proximity Effect," meaning that it sounds more bassy as you move closer to it. (It's a common characteristic of directional mics). Remember that lectern microphones MUST be mounted on a rubbery shock-mount to isolate sounds from the lectern itself from the microphone. I use a Shure A400XLR, but others are suitable.

No more hum!
Got this little guy to replace a mic in a podium for a church. This did the trick! Sounds great!

Radio interference and too sensitive
Compared to the other mics my church uses, this one has two major deficiencies. The first is that it is mildly susceptible to radio interference, on occasion we can hear sports radio coming over this mic. The second is that it is very easy to get popping P's if the speaker or singer is too close to the mic. The sensitivity of the mic is high but overall it really has not worked out well for us.

Almost Perfect
I ordered this item for a speaker at a podium. I didn't realize my mixer didn't have it's own phantom power (which this mic needs) but that was fixed by buying a small phantom power box. Just be sure your system can power this mic or do what I did. For the actual product itself, I have to say it works very well. The sound is crisp and clear. The quality is very good in fact. It doesn't feel flimsy or cheap at all. The manufacturers website has this item for $189, if you can get it on sale on Amazon it's a steal. The microphone is a condenser cardioid mic, which means it isn't truly unidirectional in its sound pick-up because it's sensitivity pattern is heart-shaped. So sometimes it may pick up some sounds from more than 1 direction. This can be nice for a speaker who can't stand still, not nice if other real loud sounds are happening too closely. Turning down the mic volume and turning up the master can overcome this, and I haven't noticed it damaging sound quality very much. Overall 4 stars, it does everything it's supposed to do for the price. 5 stars would be if it did it for a lot less :)

Can you HEAR me ONLY now??!
My wife's niece and her friend broke a dated version of this mic while at choir practice recently. Found this matching product and decided to take a chance (not knowing if the mic would be compatible with pre-existing base connection and sound system). It ended up needing perfectly as well as sounding better. Much crisper sound and slightly better at filtering out unwanted ambient sounds. Used at the pulpit for liturgy reading and psalmody.

Did not work for me
I purchased this microphone to replace an existing gooseneck that was on a lecturn. Although the sound quality was satisfactory, the mic really picks up conducted sound through the base. It may be that a specific base is needed to isolate it from conducted sound through the base, but if so, that was not apparent in the information provided by the seller.

Works great
I love this mic. Well built and sounds fantastic. I have used a lot of these and I can't say enough good stuff about this mic.
